Just got logged in finally. First I want to say that I wish I would have know about such a great place, before I wasted all the money I did on the e-cig I got. I have COPD and really need to quit smoking the coffin nails. Even my Doctor suggested an e-cig. I've learned a lot this first time but still don't know which one I want to try out. Really not happy with the Blu product I got. Any help will be appreciated

Welcome to ECF TNT
We're glad you're here.
Yes many of us started with Blu. And it just doesn't have enough oomph for a serious smoker does it?
I went from Blu to ECF & learned about the Kgo. I got it right away & I've used it for about 6 months now. I am quite satisfied with it. It takes care of the craving for me.
There are other systems that are great too.
There is an Ego Twist that is variable voltage.
What you need to look for is a battery with higher voltage than Blu & a battery that keeps its charge longer than Blu. Get that & some good juice & you'll throw those cigarettes away in no time. :)

Hi, tnt, Welcome and congratulations on your decision to switch!

You have already gotten some good advice here. I don't know how close you are to Tuisa, but it would be worth sliding over to Vapor King at 41st and Mingo if you have a chance. It's a great shop and a hands on shopping experience is always helpful

Their prices are competitive for an actual shop and the staff is very helpful. Even if you don't end up buying there, the info should be a great help in making your purchase!

Welcome tnt, and I wish you luck on transitioning to e-cigs. I am in the same boat as you, though I am stuck with Green Smoke, rather than Blu's. Probably this weekend I will be ordering my first 'kit'. I have done a lot of reading and watching reviews for a newbie, I think, so I will share my thoughts on what kit I am going to go for. I wont be able to give you a verdict on it for a week or so (depends on shipping).

The JoyE eGo comes extremely highly recommended, even the lifetime vapers here seem to have at least one eGo laying around as a back-up. From what I have gathered the original brand, JoyE, has a great base of support. There are off-brand makes of the eGo series (the kGo mentioned above is one example). The off-brands are a little hard to gauge and decide on for a new-to-e-cig guy. A lot of the reviews of the off brands are hit or miss.

Among the eGo types the most common are the original eGo, the eGo T (a tank based system), and the eGo C (or changable system). I have decided to go with the eGo C model because the 'changable' aspect will allow me to try/swap different parts and setups. Instead of getting a pre-made kit, though, it was suggested to me to do a DIY kit - parted out as it were. What I will probably be ordering will be:

- eGo C twist battery (1000 mAh) with a plug charger - the twist allow you to change the voltage on the e-cig, for more or less vaper, or more or less throat hit (the cigarette feel in the back of the throat).
- eGo C passthrough battery (comes with its own usb charger) - This battery is not a variable voltage model like the one above but the passthrough lets one vape while the e-cig is charging at a computer. I chose this way instead of 2 twist batteries incase I run into having dead batteries and have a nicotine fit.
- a couple Vision/Stardust clearomizers and a couple Sunfire clearomizers. Clearomizers have had very, very bad reviews as a whole but these two are newer and have great reviews (they have even changed the hearts and minds of people that have hated the clearomizers). Clearomizers have all the parts needed to vape. Just attach to a battery and off you go.

From what I can understand this is my 'kit'. It will get me started, after I buy e-liquid, and being an eGo C if I later want to try out different parts - like my own separate atomizers and cartridges, or move to an atomizer and tank system, the eGo C will allow me to experiment.

As a heavy-ish smoker also trying to move to only vaping it was highly recommended to me to go with 1000 mAh batteries instead of the 650 mAh batteries that normally come with kits so that I will be able to have a charge to last all day, or close to it. The variable voltage 'twist' batteries also allow you to adjust the cigarette-like hit and feel.

I will also be ordering the higher nicotine level e-liquids to make sure I do not turn back to smokes. I can always taper off as I get more used to the vape.

I hope this helps. The others on this forum have helped me a lot.

WOW. I never realized that there were so many different ways to go with an e-cig. I'd really like to stay with cartridges .(More for convience than anything) At least now I got a better knowledge of what's out there. Thanks to all. Like I said before this is a great forum!

TNT...you wont be on cartridges very long. People graduate to something else because carts are a poor choice for vaping compared to all the other options. What is obvious is you want something simple. And I don't blame you. Try this...a Kanger M3 (510 connector) clearomizer on a basic eGO 650mah battery. It is a very simple and relatively small e-cig yet gives you the sophistication of a clearomizer. The battery will last at least a half day so you don't have to keep fiddling with chargers. Clearos are a much better way to vape than carts or cartomizers. Some will disagree, but the vast majority would agree. Let me know if you want more info. But simple is what you want if I read you correctly.

I think you might mean "cartomizers" not "cartridges".
A "cartomizer" is one unit that contains both the atomizer & the cartridge together. It is much improved over a two piece system.
I recommend "cartomizers" to newbies cuz they are simple. No leaks no cracking no burning.
You can vape away with a cartomizer while you are studying about all those other juice delivery systems you want to try.

I tend to agree with Cowdog. However, Kanger makes a real simple clearo (M3) that is small (fits perfectly on a 510 or 808 style minicig battery) and easy to fill and clean. For those reasons, I would recommend it to a beginner.

Hi there,
I'm also new here on this forum. In fact, this will be my very first post on it.

I started vaping 6 weeks ago, with some 'real sigarette' looking esig. It was fun the first two days. But then i started feeling annoyed having to charge the battery two times a day and replacing the little cartridge three times a day. With Euro 1,79 a cartridge (<0,5ml) it was quite expensive also.

Then, i decided to look for a more advanced esig. At first i liked the look of the 'real' sigarette and felt a bit dignified with the EGO-like esigs. But i did some research on these (that's how i came upon this great forum). And i started to feel enthusiastic about the EGO. So i decided to try this one and buy it. Now i'm using it for 4 weeks and i must say that i'm very satisfied.

In the mean time i searched this forum for hours, days, weeks. More and more i became interested in DIY. With the tips and tricks i read on this forum i decided to buy a few flavors, some PG, VG and nic and started mixing. MAN, this is really becoming a new hobby for me!

This week i bought an EGO Twist for my girlfriend. She sitting opposite from me right now, vaping away. She likes it too (that's good, because then she won't be too bothered about me spending so much money on this new hobby:)
The EGO Twist is quite nice, with the variable Voltage regulator and 4.8V max. She has more vape than me.

All in all i can say that the EGO type of esig (EGO-c to be precise) i quite good for me now. Especially with a clearomizer it brings out the flavor taste. So for other newbies i can recommend this one.

tnt56, sorry if i seem to hijack your thread. That was not my purpose. I just want to share my first experiences with vaping, being very enthusiastic about it, and give my suggestion on esigs on the side. If what i did here is not according to the forum's values, i apologize hereby. But please forgive me since it is my first post :)

I would also strongly suggest a few cartomizers along with any clearomizers you order. Cartos are very simple and generally fuss-free. If you're putting them on an eGo OTHER than a Twist (the Twist is variable voltage, other eGo's are regulated 3.4 volts) I'd recommend 1.7 ohm, with a Twist 2.0 - 3.0 ohm. You may well like the Stardusts or the Vivi Nova's (I like the Novas a lot and use them a lot), but the cartomizers wil provide you a bottom line simple "fill and vape" that might make the initial learning curve easier.

The KGO's are made by at least two different manufacturers. My personal experience is with the SLB manufactured version which is sold by Hoosier E-Cigs and Dark City Vapors, and possibly others. The quality on it is very good. It's NOT regulated at 3.4 volts, so most of its battry cycle it will be delivering around 3.7 volts. A 2.0 ohm cartomizer is a good place to start with the KGO.

I have tried cartos, clearos, dripping all in the last few weeks. Hands down, easiest with good vape is the Vivi Nova. It has a tank, you just screw off the top, fill it up and are good to go for the day. You can SEE how much is in it, so you won't run dry. I found this useful because I don't KNOW how much I use a day! It has measurements on it so I can judge how much I need a day, so I know when to reorder juice and how much so I can save on shipping by ordering what I need.

If it starts tasting funky, unscrew the thing and run it under some hot water in the sink then paper towel dry. If that doesn't work, it comes with 2 new heads, you just screw the old one off and put the new one on. Easy! And less expensive since you aren't throwing it away when it scorches.

I also agree with the eGo Twist. You may not need all that variable stuff right now, and I didn't know what to do with it but once I started fiddling with it I realized it is a wonderful option to have. Better to have this stuff on hand than to have to rebuy it when you do decide to go with a variable.

So, I would minimum get 2 of the eGo's so you have one always charged and of course the charger. Then something to put juice in, the Vivi Nova was recommended and after trying all the others, for a beginner I agree. And then the juice.

MOST IMPORTANT, good luck with staying off the cigarettes AND WELCOME! The BEST device for you is the one that works to keep you off cigarettes. There are no mistakes, just learning experiences. Good luck on your new journey of being an ex-smoker.

I 2nd the vivi nova mini or mega. Paired with a twist the 2.4 ohm head works great. I also use the Kgo with the 1.8 ohm head from the nova and it works great too. The nice thing is it comes w/3 heads at different ohms which lets you try them and find what works for you. I am still using the heads on my initial vivi kit from 2 mos ago, talk about cost effective. I clean it about every 2 days w/hot water and try burn till the coil glows red then -rinse -dry and vape. I see several new ones in the very near future.

Welcome, tnt!

I was a 2- pack a day smoker myself. I started with the eGo-T. Pretty cool. But I now have a few eGo Twists. LOVE 'em! There is better out there, I know, but for economy, portability and pure ruggedness and durability, the eGo Twist is my favorite.

Anything I buy from now on is just a "want". And, of course, I WANT a lot!!!

Good luck!
