Just got one yesterday

Hi! I'm new to this site. I just got an e cigarette yesterday and so far I've cut back on my smoking. I'm planning on full out quitting on January 19th due to getting my wisdom teeth taken out..So, I happened to hear that using an e cigarette can help with quitting, and I bought a disposable one. It has no nicotine or tobacco, and it kinda moistens my mouth out if I have a dry mouth, and I'm strongly thinking I'm going to buy a rechargeable/refillable one.

Any tips on quitting, and buying a rechargeable/refillable one?:)

Welcome to the forums and congrats on trying to quit. Ecig or vaping does dry out your mouth do to its the components VG and pg.

Drink more water while using the ecig, cut as many as you can out of your day and hopefully you will have none or quit cold turkey.

Hope you can stick with it. If you want to upgrade to a fill able tank look on yelp for "vape" shops near by.

Welcome to the forum. Cigalikes and the eGo style ecigs are how I was able to quit cigs. But do yourself a favor and don't try to start too cheap. It will cost you more in the long run. Get something like a Vision Spinner 2 or similar battery with a tank that has replaceable/disposable coil heads (like the Aspire CE5-S or the Aspire Nautilus Mini. You will get more enjoyment and flavor from them. You will also have something you can use for a while before you feel the need to upgrade again. :2c:

What got me interested in vaping was a friend who was a nonsmoker and used no nicotine fluid. He was who I actually bought my first ecig from. Vaping is a great thing my friend. Although once you quit smoking completely you may find you may want to have fluid with nicotine to help with cravings. Staying low though (around 6 or 12 mgs) and only when you need the nic may be the key too quitting completely. Or you may be like me and have a strong love affair for nicotine and need a high concentration like 18 or 22. I wish you luck with getting off the real thing. I'm working on it myself.

Good luck and welcome to the Ecig Forums!

Hello and welcome to the forum Zelo. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are looking for an upgraded setup here are some possible options for you to consider:

A variable v/w (twist/spinner) is usually recommended over a "non variable" v/w battery. It allows you to adjust your settings to get a better "vape". Some flavors taste better at higher voltages than 3.7v

1. JoyeTech Ego-C Twist
2. Vision Spinner
3. Innokin iTaste vv v3
4. Innokin iTaste MVP v2 (or even better an MVP 20 watt)
5. eLeaf iStick

The first 3 are fall into the "ego style" category of battery (with variable voltage). They range in size from 600mah to 1300mah. The higher the mah the longer the battery will last between charging.

The 4th & 5th ones are a step up from an "ego style" battery in that they are smaller variable v/w box mods with a very big battery (2400-2600mah). It will last many vapers a whole day before it needs recharging. The MVP is probably one of the most popular batteries for someone upgrading from an "ego style" battery. The iStick is also very popular.

I suggest buying only name brand Joyetech Twist or Vision Spinner ego batteries if you choose to go this route. BTW, "ego" is merely a type of battery, not a brand name. Buying "generic" ego batteries is always going to be hit or miss...mostly miss.

You will also need to purchase a tank (the juice attachment) and extra coils. The mini Nautillus, mini Aerotank or regular size Nautilus or Aerotank (all made of glass & all have adjustable airflow control) are very popular.

Why would you want a glass tank (you may be thinking to yourself)? Here is a great resource regarding "tank cracking" eliquid by ECF member Baditude: Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

Hey Zelo, welcome to the cool side, haha.

Starting off vaping can be overwhelming especially with all the choices are there and especially when you see people talking about modding. Then with all the different suggestions people make with different batteries and flavors you have to keep track of all the different websites. It can really be a pain and for some, it makes them not want to even get into it.

It took me a long while to find a reliable one stop shop kind of place and a good amount of cash to find the set up that is the easiest to use and best overall experience. The suggestion I am going to make for you will be somewhat on the expensive side (around $150) but once you spend that initial amount, you'll only have to spend about $30 either once a month or every other month depending on how much you vape.

The website I would suggest (been using this for 1.5 years and only had one mishap where they sent me the wrong item, but they resolved it quickly and also sent me some free juice as an apology) is vapor4life. Before you order from them though, become a member to their website and also a mailing member because every few days they send you coupon codes for discounts. Typically it's around 20% off, but every now and then it goes up to 50%. (im not allowed to post links for some reason so just add a .com after vapor4life in the links. Also, where ever you see a "," in the link, replace it with "/")

So the first thing you want to do is get a charger for your battery. I like the wall ones as opposed to the usb ones because they seem to charge faster. However, you can get the usb for more convenience by using it at your computer. Here is the wall charger. vapor4life,store,vapor-king-slim-charger-white

Next, you want to get a battery. The one I highly suggest is the dial a volt. vapor4life,store,dial-a-volt-variable-voltage-ecig-manual
This is a good one because you can change the voltage which will increase or decrease the amount of vape that comes out along with the throat hit at will. I know it is thicker than a regular cigarette and it's more like a cigar, but you will quickly ignore that fact. Also, it's worth spending the extra $4.00 for the large version (skip the small and medium) because it keeps the charge for a lot longer. The large version is about 4.5 inches long. I would suggest getting 2 batteries so you always have one charging that way you always have your ecig available without having to wait for your battery to charge. From 0% to 100% you are looking at about 7-8 hours to charge. One final tip on the battery is go with the manual version as opposed to the automatic ones. While it's nice to not have to push a button and just take a drag of it, they don't seem to work as well. I've gotten 5 batteries in the time I've been using the site and the manual batteries are still going strong whereas the auto ones pooped out on me. If you are worried about the button being pressed while the battery is in your pocket, just press the button 5 times and it'll turn off the battery, hit it 5 times again and it will turn back on. The button will flash a couple times to let you know you did it right.

Now to make vaping super easy, you should get a tank. I would get two of these because it's nice to have two different flavors easily accessible. Go with the 3.5 ml tank instead of the bigger one because for one, the 3.5 ml tank is pretty much the same diameter as the battery itself and two, the bigger ones look weird. vapor4life,store,ecig-tank-35ml. Now, the reason I say to get these is because when refilling your e-cig, all you have to do is push down that coil thing in the middle, push it to the side and then just fill up the tank by putting juice on the outside of the middle metal cylinder. It takes like 3 seconds to refill it as opposed to "dripping" your juice in the cotton stuff. It's also much less messy.

Next you need to get replacement cylinders for your tanks. These typically last two weeks before the juice starts to clog it up and you need to replace them. It's very easy - just push it out of the tank and then slide the new one in. Whenever using a new one, you should drip in about 40 drops of your juice into the cotton inside of them along with putting the juice in the tank on the side the cylinder as previously explained. Then you want to let it sit for about 5 minutes before using it so it has time to be fully absorbed by the cotton. I would pick up like 6 of these. vapor4life,store,dual-coil-replacement-cartomizer-808-thread

The next item is completely optional, but I highly suggest it because it makes the feel of the set up more enjoyable. I've had other people try them and they all agree - this item is called a drip tip. Just because it's called drip tip, it doesn't mean you drip juice in it. Instead it's a "mod" to the part that goes in your mouth as you suck on it. If you look at the tank you'll see a clear tip at the top of it and this replaces it. They are well worth the money because you want to vaping to be a good experience or you wont stick with it. vapor4life/store/ming-vase-drip-tip

Finally, you have the juices. Everyone has preferences as to what they like and I tend to go for the sweet flavors. When I started I was obsessed with trying to find tobacco flavors but when they make the flavor, they try to mimic the smell of non burning tobacco so it never tastes like a cigarette. However once I got off that idea and tried others, it became a heck of a lot better. For your first liquid, I definitely suggest the "Caramel smooth e liquid (wow)" flavor under the desert section. Everyone that I've had try it really digs it. Unless you despise the taste of caramel, it's an awesome vape. Also, when choosing the strength of nicotine, 1.8% is a pretty safe choice. If you feel it has too hard of a throat hit, just turn down the battery dial and it should help out. vapor4life,store,e-liquid?cat=22 You should buy more than one bottle of liquid, go with at least two.

So IMO this is the best way to get into vaping and the best way to continue vaping. As I already said, the initial investment will be fairly expensive. However, you'll quickly start saving a lot of money - I vape a lot and I spend ~$30 a month on it. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Anyway, hope this helps and enjoy the vape!

There are many Canadian vendors who have quality products for new vapers (I can't mention vendors names), so you don't have to hassle with overseas or Canadian customs. As your learning about vaping you will be overwhelmed with all the new fancy shiny things but if you research through Youtube and Google you will catch on in no time and everything will fall right into place. The ego kits my wife and I bought lasted a month before we bought bigger and better but still have our original ego batts and attys but they are just sitting in a drawer.
Good luck on your new vape journey.

No problem Zelo, I know how much of a pain in the .... it is to get started with vaping and know how much it can turn people off from it. Heck, in the beginning I spent so much money trying different things out, I stopped messing with it more than once.

One thing I forgot to mention in the post I made was when dripping in the 40 drops into the cylinder, make sure you don't get any juice in the middle part where it's like a hole. So kind of angle it so the juice either lands on the cotton or have it go down the wall of the tube. If it gets in the middle it will "flood" the cylinder which is the last thing you want because the juice will slide out of the bottom and it gets messy fast. Also, don't forget those ming vase tips because the feel of it is a more natural feeling. If you get one you will see what I mean when you use it vs the stock tip from the tank itself.

Wow Genesiser, thanks very much for the info!! I was looking for something more simple since I'll only be doing this for about 2 months but I'll look into it!

sounds like you have a plan....this might well be the way to go if you are planning on stopping altogether. https://vaporhq.com/kanger-evod-starter-kit its everything you need except the e-liquid and you could pass it on to the next quitter. best of luck :D

Hey Zelo, not sure if you are interested, but I got a coupon code in my email that is valid until midnight tonight (dec 29).

If you put the code SWITCH when you go to checkout you can get...
30% off on orders below $50
35% off on orders $50-100
40% off on orders above $100.

So instead of spending say $150 bucks, you can get it all for around $108
