i use 3.7 volt riva's. i think i dryburned this with my old regulated rivas that are 3.2 volts. either way i know something wasn't right because it was only lighting up on one end, if figured a little longer and it would light all the way across. i'll try some more as i really like the way they vape, but its clear they aren't as tough as the fluxos. the giant i have is the same way, i dryburned it and didn't pop it, but the coil is barely lighting. the fluxos burn bright red and i can hammer on them while dryburning.

The half lit coil is exactly what I had on the two that fried. I'm going to meter the next one when new, and before dry burning.

The best thing to use to dry burn something is a godd ole 18650 Batt in a PV or a PT,,, but either way if your gonna dry burn anything you risk it popping and that's that.

thats the same as a riva unreglated battery, but regardless, of course you can pop anything, but we are talking about the visions being more fragile than the fluxomizers. the fluxomizer I have to blow on it repeatedly while dryburning it to get it to pop. havent popped a saphire yet and I hammer on those more than the fluxes. only one ever worked right after dryburning and took a while at that but they don't pop like these.

A Riva & Ego is not the same as an 18650 I disagree, both may be li-on Batts but the riva and Ego use PWM and have a board in the units, an 18650 does not use PWM and has no Board in the unit nor a mosfet connection, in my opinion a Riva or Ego is the very last batt I would ever use to dry burn something seeing you would risk overheating the Mosfet connection and risk blowing the mosfet connection as it would get very hot using to do a dry burn. I still say an 18650 up to a 26650 in something like a Silver Bullet is best to do a dryburn, just my opinion

If you see this and only half the wire is glowing, take a needle and finagle the wire a little bit by separating them a smidgen, most likely you have a short and the wire is touching each other somewhere, moving them apart just a very little bit will resolve this.

i ordered 3 more regulars and 1 more giant, if these things don't last more than a week or 2, I give up on them.

Good luck! I think it will be fine. I did look at the one I had that popped and the coil was all scrunched together and even kind of pushed to one side, so the previous posters suggestion sounds like a good thing to keep in mind. It doesn't look like any of the others I am currently using are like that. The rest are neatly spaced and centered well, and they have held up to repeated cleanings and dry burnings.

Sent from my G2...so please excuse the spelling errors, correct gets the best of me.

Yeah, I think that is what is happening too. Would explain the wick burning thru having a constant hot spot as well.

I AM NO EXPERT (so treat this as such) but ...
Just make sure the coil is cold when doing this cause if you try and dry burn, notice the scrunched coil and try moving it straight away it is probably in a slightly weakened state at the time and may break.

my understanding is that the Riva and ego use diff electronics with the ego using PWM and the Riva not - not sure about Mosfet!! - all I know is that half my life now is consumed with charging batteries (ecig batts, phone, laptop, toothbrush, flashlight) - anyway, I've been dry burning all of my fluxos (after cleaning) for six mos or more on my Riva batts 'cause my only other option is my PureSmoker V3 @ 6v - haven't popped but one coil on a fluxo that was 6 mos old and all my Rivas are still working just fine - BTW, a 3.5 ohm fluxo has been cleaned and dry burned after every 10 ml bottle of juice at least 10 times and it still vapes like new (did replace the tube with a BD syringe after the first 10mls though) - so...this can be done, just be careful and don't hold the button until it times out! - just pulse it for 2 or 3 seconds until the coil starts glowing - takes a little longer (specially if you are cleaning a darker juice) but probably easier on everything.
