Hello all,

I got my first ecig kit around 10 months ago, but didn't use it very seriously until this year. As of today I've been smoke free for 15 days thanks to the ecigs.

I use the Blu brand (which doesn't seem very popular around here?). I'm open to advice obviously.

Annnnd I'm wondering if I'm doing the "quit smoking" thing right. My dad (who smoked for 30 years, quit for 5, started back up for 2 and us presently not smoking) said I was "cheating" by using the ecigs because I still have nicotine in me.

I'm also not yet experiencing the expected benefits of being a non smoker yet -- things don't taste better, my lungs don't feel especially better and I don't feel a pathological hatred of tobacco users. An I doing something wrong?

Congrats and welcome! Whatever works for you is the right set up. I had my heart set on getting my sister to switch using the same set up I used but have since changed my mind. I'm getting her the auto batteries that look like a cig because I think that's what she'll be more comfortable with. As for cheating, I used to think the same thing. It wasn't "really" quitting. I've changed my outlook on that, too, I did quit smoking and if it's considered cheating that's ok. I'm just glad I found something that go the cigarettes out of my life.

You are not cheating...because you are not smoking...nicotine is really about and toxic as caffeine I have no desire to ever stop taking in nicotine, after 30 years of smoking my brain no longer produces (in proper amounts) the chemicals that nicotine has replaced (insert long boring post here)
like many of us long term smokers.
nicotine controls alot of blood sugar levels, and it controls chemicals related to the reward centers in your brain, because the structure of the nicotine molecule is almost exactly the same as a the one your brain produces you stop making it when you smoke. After long time exposure and dependence your brain may never be able to produce it naturally again " the factory has been shut down "

so dont beat yourself up about your nicotine intake...just be glad you dont have to burn it anymore

I'm no expert but I've only been on e cig for 9 days but already feel a lot better, no coughing in the morning no smelly clothes & i'm already preaching to smokers about e cigs being the future plus I'm saving shed loads of cash by topping up with juice, eventually I want to kick the nicotine full stop but without my e cig I would struggle big time.

naw. You are not cheating, you are using a tobacco replacement.
I don't recommend you "quit smoking". That seems to make a lot of stress for people. if they HAVE to have an analogue, they beat themselves up about it.
If the Blu is what you like, then please keep using it. Also take a look around the forums and see what may catch yoru intrest. A good starter is the eGo twist. it's a very good variable voltage device and not too expensive. Then when you decide you want to upgrade - look in the forums again for what is the popular upgrade of the time.
