With a new mod I always like to find a demo/review or two, not so much for what the reviewer thinks, but to understand all my settings and how to get there. It's really helpful for me, a picture can be worth a thousand words.

Basically, temp control will allow you to set your vape's temperature by sensing the resistance of the coil and will keep it even and avoid dry hits. It is possible to get TC coils that are drop in coils, but many folks use them on Rebuildable tanks, which is getting more advanced in vaping style. The different settings are there because different wires change resistance at different temperatures, but kanthal fluctuates pretty wildly (or not enough, I can't remember) so it can't be used in TC mode.

Down the line, you might very much enjoy using TC mode, but there is no huge rush...

Good luck,

Anna
Nice advice as always Anna [emoji106]

Thank you! I am going to stick with wattage and then learn about everything else.

Unlike many vapers, I mostly do not use TC.
I found most factory coils did not work properly (either an issue with mixing over-the-counter coils with mods made by different vaping mod makes or something else?). Given that I am not new to vaping and know a large community of people who will send me stuff (often traded, of course) I don't actually believe factory TC set ups work very well having tried many, many types.
I am deeply cynical about TC coils. For example, I have a complete 14 section storage box in my attic room with 12 different types of factory TC coil. Kanger, Eleaf, and Innokin mostly. None of them work satisfactorily.
HOWEVER, I have spools of TC wire (Stainless, Nickel) which if I use them on a rebuildable atomizer work perfectly well.
So, as I don't want to vape too hot or take a risk with over-heated or burnt hits, I use standard factory coils on a day to day basis but treat the watt range specified by the manufacturer as an unreliable guide. In general, if I want to vape at 14 watts, I use a coil claiming to do up to 30w. If I vape at 30w, I use a coil rated 50w or more. NO dry hits, no burnt taste, good coil life....

I don't like Smok products for historical reasons (unreliable mods) but accept they are one of the kings of higher power factory coil vaping. For sure, if I had a Smok tank and a pack of coils, I would limit them to well short of the claimed max' watts. Truth is, if I want to vape at 50w or 80w (100 is too much!) then I use a rebuildable dripping atomizer every time. Today, I was vaping Element liquid 'fresh squeeze' orange e-liquid at 84 watts. No chance of a problem, as I can pop the top off the atomizer every few minutes. Perfect taste, perfect vapor. Tasty liquid, by the way. :)

Getting the Big Baby Beast will cool your vape a bit, if you like the Baby Beast, you will like BBB.

I will try that. We are going back to the vape store later because my son’s cupti keeps flooding even when he isn’t using it.

Nice tank! I am new to vaping too and I have one of those and I like it.

ETA - I am using the T6 coil at 65 watts with my bottom vent about 1/2 open with max VG juice.

It's a relatively cool hit with decent flavor.

Hi Cukimunster, and welcome!
For better recommendations, it'd be helpful to learn about your vaping style. Did you use the all-in-ones to quit smoking? Do you do mouth to lung, like a cigarette, or inhale direct to lung, more like a b*ng (that would be for inhaling products that are only legal in a few states?);)

That's usually the first consideration most people use in deciding on a tank. I would guess that if you quit smoking, you were doing mtl at first. Although the Baby Beast isn't really good at that, you might have gone DTL with it - a friend of mine did that, and was fine with it - but he never really smoked much. That tank doesn't try to restrict the airflow, like a cigarette, which is what most MTL vapers like.

Most of the products out there are not for MTL. But Aspire is probably the most popular manufacturer that caters to that (my) crowd. They make great products, and have been around for a long time. There are other choices, of course.

Sounds like your mod might be overkill, but will handle almost anything you'd want to do. It wouldn't work for me, since I mtl, and generally stay below 10 watts.

T6 or a x4 coil on the BB will give you the coolest vape.
Yes! I totally learned that by trial and error. My guess is the smaller air passages in those coils increase air velocity. Even though they are low ohm, I noticed they hit cooler than the .4 ohm Q2

I actually quit smoking 12 yrs ago, predating main steam vaping. [emoji4] [removed] I definitely do DTL.

You can turn the wattage down below the coils recomended power settings if it's to warm for you won't hurt nothing. Just make your coil last longer battery last longer and cooler vape.

I like that idea!!!

Well then, see - that will get you different answers!:)
In that case, you might do best to go the dripping route. I don't have a recommendation for that, because I haven't found one. I have considered it for my tobacco flavors, because dripping is supposed to be great for flavor. And I change flavors a lot. Problem is, I MTL, and I don't know a good MTL RDA...not much info on that out there that I've been able to find.
But I'm sure you'll get some good info now.

Oh, and Mr. Relentless is right. I like a cool vape, and have learned to get great results and better flavor by putting wattage at the lowest I can, while still getting a full vape.

Great! Thanks. I will look into an RDA and see how I do with that.
