Hey everyone, I am new to vaping and I just ordered my first vaporizer, the joye 510. I haven't gotten it yet, it's coming all the way from china (healthcabin.net, are they good?).

I'm concerned about battery life. I believe mine is coming with 2 auto batts. When people say they get about 2 hours battery life, is that 2 hours after you unplug it from the charger? or 2 hours smoking time? It would be great if I could just casually puff away for a few minutes then use it much later in the day a few times. I want to order a few of those mega 280 mAH batts for these anyway... but can't find them cheap enough. I can't wait for battery tech to improve in these!

I'm also kind of worried about leakage. Can the cartridges wiggle off the atomizer easily if the ecig is in your pocket? It makes sense to keep it in your pocket mouthpiece up.

I guess I really just have to wait for the thing to arrive. I'm excited to ditch analog cigs for a much healthier way to get some nicotine. I don't really smoke that many cigs, maybe a pack a week, they're just nasty. I'm gonna have to order more stuff when it gets here!

Great to join this forum, it's an awesome resource!

Welcome Spiffy!
The 510 battery will last 2 hours like as if you were smoking cigs in that time frame. It's not a constant on rating, but a casual usage rating. You'll be leapfrog charging the batts, but they charge quick.
The carts are stuck on the atty pretty good, so don't worry about it fallling off and they haven't leaked on me yet.

have no fear spiffyfitz
the 510 is here to save the day

The 510 is a great choice for your 1st model...i use mine everyday still.

Battery Life is based on use. Yes battery life on these (and all minis) is not what we all wish it to be. I would invest in a few more batteries and some other chargers when you get a chance. I would suggest a PCC, USB, and extra wall charger. I myself never want to be caught without a charged battery and be tempted to pick up a analog. Because you only smoke a pack a week.....you should have no fears your battery may last you all day. It depends on how much you use it as to how fast you will loose the battery charge.

Some people complain about leakage...i occasionally like the extra juice hit now and then. ;) As long as you don't overfill the carts you should not have a problem. Some users use other cart fillers to find what they like the best.

No the carts do not wiggle off easily.

I wouldn't worry about how you are sitting the unit in your pocket....and much as make sure you are not pressing the manual button in your pocket ;) They can get hot and you don't want to burn up the atty.

Since your a newbie i would suggest reading some of the threads in the "Model Specific Discussion" for the Joye 510

I just went to cignot.com and wrangled me up an extra atty, batty, and a PCC! I was going to get a blu cig but decided against it after lurking on this forum for a few days. The blu pcc is huge and ugly anyway. The 510 PCC looks a lot more slick.

I feel prepared now.

The PCC is almost like having 4 batteries on you at once. Now I'm waiting from Healthcabin and my order from Cignot to get here... Whichever one gets here first gets the privilege to be vaped first :)

The button from the pics I've seen looks like it's made of rubber like a laser pointer... has anyone tried using an xacto and slicing off a few layers on the top of it? It may be less prone to being accidentally pushed if it protrudes a little less.

welcome spiffy!

I did the same thing. I ordered a starter kit from china but couldn't wait for it to get here so I ordered another kit from cignot. cignot's kit made it from the midwest to california in 3 days. the battery even had some charge in it so i was able to instantly vape. fun!

I have found that a fully charged battery will last over a day if I don't use it but leave it connected to the atomizer. I don't know the max time that it'd hold its charge since I haven't not used it for that long yet!

enjoy your 510

Unless you're wearing painted on jeans and bump against something else in your pocket, you're unlikely to push the button by accident.

I'm with Susan - sort of.

I have had quite a few problems accidentally hitting the switch while it is in a pocket. Usually my shirt pocket. And yes unfortunately you don't notice until you are getting warn from it by which time it's already too late. I have seriously burned a few atty's this way.

Then I finally learned to just unscrew it a little bit when I put it my pocket so if the batt goes off it doesn't fry my stuff.

However, 510's rock, you'll love it. And cignot will definitely be there first.

I'm like you in that I've only been vaping for about 15 days. I got a 510 starter, but soon after I ordered a PCC, extra batts and a USB passthough (greatest thing in vaping since I do most of it in front of my computer at home). I see folks writing here that they get 2 hours from a batt. With heavy vaping, I get 30-35 minutes tops:cry:. Swapping 2 batts simply doesn't work - they don't charge fast enough. The passthough is great, extra batts help on the road. Maybe I'll get a mod like a Protege some day. Good luck!

Not true. I was wearing my work pants (loose fitting w/ cargo pockets) and I dropped my 510 in my lower left cargo pocket when I went into a store. I was squatting down to look at something on a bottom shelf and about 15 seconds later I felt a intense burning on my leg.
Apparently I had somehow pressed the button on my manual battery and engaged the atomizer which burned me to the point it blistered.
Now I have a nice burn scar just above my knee.

Pro Tip: Dont put an assembled (auto or manual) PV in your pocket. Get a PCC.

The batteries are lithium-ion, like cell phone or laptop or camcorder batteries, so when not in use (off) they retain their current charge for a long period of time. I've tried batteries I charged days earlier but haven't used and they still have retained a decent charge.
You shouldn't let your batteries drain all the way before recharging them, though- that shortens their lifespan. Recharge them before they get drained. That is why you would be switching them out on the charger.
And a USB passthru with a car adapter is another option you may want to look into and consider. I understand Cignot carries one for the 510.
