Just ordered the following flavors from The Perfumer's Apprentice:

Apple (Tart Granny Smith)
Banana Cream
Bavarian Cream
Coconut
Milk Chocolate
Pineapple
Ripe Banana
Strawberry

I plan on making 50/50 PG/VG with 10 mg/ml nicotine. As a general rule of thumb, is 5-10% of their flavor a good starting point for all of their flavors (that don't already indicate on their site that they are strong, start slow)? On here, I've seen some say although their flavor is good, it is weak, and they needed 20%. I'd like to start at 5% and increase from there, but what I would like to know is if I should start even lower for these flavors. TIA

Apple (Tart Granny Smith) 5% A good flavor, not overly powerful but strong enough to use in small doses.
Banana Cream 2% A strong flavor, heavy in a good way. Its got a great creaminess that mixes well, but can EASILY overwhelm other flavors!!
Bavarian Cream 10% A very light flavor, but it works wonders at making other flavors shine!
Coconut 5% A good dry coconut flavor, not my favorite cause its not very sweet.
Milk Chocolate Unfortunately dont own this one so i cant give you a good % to use, but i'd start this one at 10%.
Pineapple 2-5% Another bold flavor. If you are mixing alone, could probably stand to go up to 10% to get a real pineapple hit, but for mixing with others, definately 2-5% so it doesnt overwhelm.
Ripe Banana 1% (seriously..) I totally love this banana, it has a slight tartness for me. 1% in ANY mix i use it in, or alone is more then enough to taste it loud and clear.
Strawberry 5% LOVE this flavor, 5% is enough for stand alone or mix. might wanna go a less % when mixing to let the other flavors come through more..I want to wear this flavor it is so good =D.

Most of TPA's fruit flavors are amazingly strong, and i love that. Less is always more! Really the only flavors i've found that require higher then 10% are the ones that scream *mix me with something* like the graham cracker, sweet cream, bavarian cream, etc. And i've tried and own about 75% of TPA's flavors so far. =D

Excellent! This is exactly what I'll follow going in first time. I appreciate it!

I noticed nothing in your order about sweetener? I perfer liquid Sucralose myself.

I was wondering about any other ingredients that I might need to include. I found one eJuice vendor who sells all kinds of extra ingredients like bitterant, sweetener, etc. Since I had seen some use straight TPA flavor, I figured I would give that a shot first to keep it simple.

Keeping it simple when you first start DIY-ing is a good plan… Just don’t be disappointed if your mixes are on bitter side.

I’m kinda bias because I like sweet flavors. And I associate fruit flavors with sweetness. When I bit into a juicy piece of Watermelon at the peek of summer, I want it to be sweet as candy. Same for my Watermelon DIY.

Thanks for all the replies! Very useful information. I went back and double checked all the flavors on TPA's website to make sure they are PG based, to make sure I can keep the PG/VG ratios right where I want them, 50/50. All are PG based, except the Milk Chocolate, which only says made with natural cocoa essense. Hmmm. I was thinking of putting 5% DI water (45% VG + 5% water, instead of just 50% VG) in all my mixes to help thin the VG. If the Milk Chocolate is entirely water based, I suppose I can definately omit the water on this one, if not from all mixes.

I received two very important sets of goodies in the mail today: 30ml of 100mg/ml from Xtreme Vaping and the TPA flavors mentioned above. Together with the Humco VG and Paddock PG I have had since last week (both ordered through Walgreen's pharmacy), I was all set to make my first mix. I decided to start with the Strawberry at 5%. Since I had no DI water on hand (shame on me; easiest thing to have had!) I decided to up the total PG to 65% instead of my previous intention to use 50% final. 10 mg/ml final nic.

First and foremost, the nicotine is excellent! First real buzz I've had since I started two weeks ago.

On to the Strawberry flavor. Oh my God it is fantastic. I love it. I have a few tanks filled with it ready for tomorrow.

I've been vaping somewhat nonstop, albeit this is the first time I have had to seriously take it easy cause this stuff is the real deal.

Soooooo smooth and tasty.

Awesome! Thanks for all the help!

Oh lordy lord! I made this up at 2% as you prescribed and indeed 2% is plenty and is absolutely heavenly.

Instead of using 35 final VG, I upped it to 75. I recently switched to dripping on a 510 atty and found that my higher PG mixes, although smooth through the eGo tank/atty, were kicking my ... pretty hard through the 510 atty. Got that sorted out and am now producing massive smooth plumes of banana cream heaven.

Can I be in the TPA strawberry fan club too, please? I love this flavour- really strong, no colouring and realistic, almost like a natural essence and not at all like anything that's used in processed "strawberry flavoured" foods and drinks.

To really pop this flavour out in my liquids, I sweeten every 5ml batch with 3 drops of my own sucralose liquid (or about 7 drops of LF sweetener liquid) and 2 drops of Malic Acid for sourness. As for the strawberry flavour itself, about 5 drops is enough for a 5ml liquid batch. There's no acidity in the flavouring itself, that's why I add the Malic Acid.
