So I finally just placed my order with MyVaporStore for the istick 50 watt along with the Kanger Subtank mini and a 15mL bottle of #36 juice from Beard Vape Co. Can't wait to get this in the mail! This is my first ever mod and tank/atomizer I have ever ordered as I am new to vaping. The whole total for the istick, subtank mini, and a 15mL juice was just under $95 so not too bad. It took a while to decide between the Subtank Mini or the Aspire Atlantis. One of my biggest concerns was how long to the factory OCC coils last and also when it comes to tanks is there a PG/VG ratio that I should stick to or near? I have read that some of the tart/sour flavors can lead to some tanks cracking, is this a concern for me?
Congrats, that sounds like a very nice setup. I am currently using the subtank nano which is pretty much the same setup but smaller. From personal experience, the coils will last, as long as you don't dry hit often. The subtank seems to work well with high vg juices, but I've ran a 50/50 with no problem. anything above 80/20 (VG/PG) will work, but might dry hit some if chain vaping.
There are several reasons I chose the Kanger subtank:
One, is that the stock coils can be rebuilt easily. I plan on going on vacation in a few days, and I will have a spare coil rebuilt and ready. Sure, you can use the Rebuldable deck, but it's nice to know, while on vacation, that you don't need to spend any time rebuilding your coils.. just replace and go. A video on how to rebuild the OCC coils is
here.
The second reason I chose the subtank, is it's a toolless refill. That means you don't have to carry a screwdriver around with you.
A third reason, is the glass tank. that was a major reason for me, since I do vape known tank crackers.
Fourth, is no gurgling. I specifically bought the subtank nano to replace a mini protank II. I'm so glad I did. I have heard it doesn't leak, and I have been putting that to the test recently, and sure enough, not one gurgle... not even after I rebuilt the stock head.
And lastly, adjustable airflow. While doing the 8 hour drive, I wanted something that has the option NOT to blow huge clouds. I don't want to "hotbox" my family on the long trip. Lower the air intake, lower the wattage, and I get a decent tasting vape without huge clouds. during rest breaks, I can raise the wattage/airflow and vape like a maniac.
I did have the istick 20 for a short while (1 week) and loved the thing. Unfortunatley, I showed someone at work, and he liked it so much, he bought it from me (for the same price I bought it for). I have been hounding him about his smoking, and anything that will help him quit is worth it. I did, however, take the money he paid, and bought a cloupor 30w.. which works better with the subtank. Not that I dislike the istick, but It was a mini version of the Sigeli 100w I use as my daily vape device that I was well familliar with. I can tell you now, that you'll be getting a quality product with the istick 50w, and you'll love it.
