Just over a week in

I was a smoker for 27 years, smoking Marlboro Lights for most of that time (started smoking at age 11!). For the final year or so, I had cut back to Marlboro Ultra Lights, was smoking about 1.5 PAD. I quit 9/14/2004 cold turkey. After 7 years, I stupidly started up again last November, the week after Thanksgiving, when I had some major stress, figuring I'd quit again for the New Year. New Year's came, and I quit for 3 days, then started again...and I started again because I just liked smoking. How I wish I had found vaping back then...

Pretty soon I was up to a pack a day, Marlboro Ultra Lights. My friend started smoking Volcanos and tried to get me to switch, but I was skeptical. I finally decided to buy a Volcano kit, which I received last Friday. I had my last analog last Monday morning and haven't touched one since. The Volcanos, though, just weren't doing it. The battery would diminish after just a few drags...so I drove to the nearest store I could find (1.5 hours away) and bought myself an eGo-c kit with two 650 mah batteries and some juice. WHAT a difference!

Really wish we had found ECF sooner...what a wonderful resource this is when you are still in the "learning curve" phase:) The terminology and variety of products out there can be a bit daunting, but I just browsed the "Pictures of your setup" thread, found something that looked interesting and in my budget range, and figured I'd start there and upgrade once I know what I'm doing:) I have an eGo 1100mah coming in the mail, but I went out and bought this eGo-C kit because I was anxious to get something with a battery that wouldn't run out so quickly as the Volcanos. I told my husband it was that or I needed to buy a pack of smokes...so he drove me the hour and a half to get the kit:)

Just over a week in, and I've already noticed a huge difference in my health - the wheeze I was dealing with EVERY night at bedtime is completely gone now, I can actually take a deep breath again, and things are already starting to smell and taste better. I remember all these things from when I quit in 2004 and was sooooo looking forward to them, but vaping is definitely an improvement this time around. I don't mind being addicted to nicotine...it was all the other garbage that went along with analogs that I don't miss!

WELCOME. Good job. You and I are at about the same point. I was a cigar smoker and was on and off for 20 years. I wish I had gotten on here before I bought My fist Vape gear. I started with a n Ego T and Clearmerizer CE ? with a Twist battery. NO spare battery. (BIG MISTAKE) I quickly realized that the T was a pain for someone like me an the the CE was to throw away. I now am using a Provari with a Carti. I also found that the vaporizers for the ego T do not last as long even when I clean them. The CE is good and easy to clean but it's a toss away. The Carti I have settled on though I will get a bigger reservoir. I do not miss my cigars. I do see a cost savings as well as the health advantage.
I learned early on that cleaning will increase the life of the atti. I clean in everclear but heard vodka is just as good. I soak and then let it dry. Then after a couple of refills I use Hydrogen Peroxide and fire it up with that. But you can't put it in a tank you just get the wick wet or dip it in the peroxide. Otherwise you'll end up with it in the battery. No matter the cleaning I let it dry before vaping or I would be ingesting pure Alcohol (recovered Alcoholic) or Hydrogen Peroxide (not good Vape's).
Again welcome. Glad to see one more no-tar, less money, not coughing up a work of modern art vapor user on here.

Thanks for the replies! I definitely have found a wealth of information on these forums, and every time I look up something on Google, this is usually the first site that comes up with the answer lol!

I was a little disappointed in the cig-lookalikes I got, but it brought me here and made me look for something more substantial, so they served their purpose. I have another friend who unsuccessfully tried to quit analogs a few months ago using Blu's, and so I've been able to help him and his wife out as well with the info I've learned here. One big thing I learned is probably one of the things that most smokers don't know up front...which is that you can't drag on an ecig the same way as you are used to dragging on an analog. That piece of advice right there is the first thing I passed along to my friend...long, slow drags are the key, even with the Blu's. But I've also sent him the details on the eGo-c kit I bought and told him to get that and how to use it, knowing that it will give him the throat hit and vapor that he's looking for that he's missing with the Blu's.

One of the best things about vaping I've found is that I love the flavors. I have no desire to try any tobacco flavors...and frankly, just the thought of that flavor makes me nauseous lol. I'm loving my cotton candy and strawberry juices I got...and can't wait to get the other crazier flavors I've ordered in the past week LOL!

I work in a teaching hospital and have access to a university library database, so I've been scouring those for medical journal articles on ecigs...I'm amazed at the detractors who say that vaping isn't proven to help people quit smoking...one visit to these forums and the number of posters who have quit-sigs would show them how very incorrect they are! I'm also glad to see that there are a number of POSITIVE medical journal articles about ecigs too!

Good job to everyone and anyone who has gotten themselves off the analogs. I'm sure ecigs/PV's may have their own health risks, which we probably won't know for years yet, but I think it's a no-brainer that they are far healthier for us all than "real" cigs!
