I'm just curious. I'm thinking of stripping one down and wondered what an effective technique would be. Sanding appears to be the favorite method, although one person used Scotch-brite pads.

I took some coarse grit metal sandpaper to my black wrinkle, it took A LONG time to do and haven't started the door yet. Approximately two hours to get the paint stripped and then brought to a 600 grit.
I do like the look and feel better than the wrinkle; the only reason I got the wrinkle initially was for more grip. Now that I think about it... I'm going to sand my door. BRB.

I soaked mine in a bucket of paintsripping gel. got the rubber gloves out of the bedroom and used them to wire brush the bulk of the paint off in the gel.

then finished it with some steel wool. after that - polish / paint as desired.

for the hard work, I recommend getting a wife or small child to do the majority of it.

All I saw in this post was rubber gloves from the bedroom! What??????
