I've been using my PT3 since Monday (got it from sun-vapers), and overall i love it. It's a more satisfying vape compared to the PT1/2 although it does have a tighter draw.

Rebuilding the heads is also easy. Just imagine another parallel coil on top of the first coil. For my rebuild, I used 3mm wicks with 10 wraps of 32 gauge kanthal giving me about 1.6 Ohms and have had no issues. I did however replace original center post with the one from the PT2 since it makes the head easier to handle.

I am going to give you my honest opinion now that I have used the protank 3 since monday. Let me tell you where it is right now, its home in the box that it came with and probably wont be opened again. ha ha. Im assuming you all know how I feel about it now. Quite frankly I think Kanger took a few steps back. Very Very Very disappointed. Id almost feel bad giving it to someone. slow down kanger, do some of your homework and try testing your products before you put something out. A friend of mine have a bet going, the bet is Kanger 5, will it or will it not be out by January 1st :) :)

Honest opinions are always very helpful!

I personally believe if Kanger wants to take its tanks to a new level, it only needs to redesign the head by eliminating the burning grommet problem. Supposedly it did this by adding a silicone grommet (vs the stinky rubber ones) and no-res legs to it's newest head, but where the heck are they? PBusardo reviewed them weeks ago on his website as Kanger sent him a few, but AFAIK they are nowhere to be found.

Seems to me there are only a few areas the PT2 needs improving in a way that would please everyone:

1> the new head with an inert silicone grommet and no-res legs (though eliminating that grommet all together is the best idea, but that's more R&D).

But I should only be able to burn my juice, not the grommet! Looking for the sweet spot involves clicking the watts up to where you can taste the juice but it's not burning the juice... which sometimes means burning the juice a tad then stepping back down. Can't do that with high-VG (which requires more power) and rubber grommets because the grommets burn before the juice even gets warm enough to really deliver its full flavor! Now silicone won't stink or off-gas if burnt, so that's BIG improvement, but it will still char, and that's still a poor design. Either the grommet needs to be eliminated and replaced with a whole new design or it needs to be made of something inert that also has a much higher heat tolerance.

2> a base with some kind of mechanism to dial in the style of draw you want, airy or tight.

Personally I can adjust the draw by drilling a larger base hole, or blocking the one that's there. So that isn't as important to me, but is a complaint of many and I imagine sales would climb with an adjustable draw.

3> Kanger heads don't deliver much flavor. Nothing like an Aro head, but the only real diff I can see is the smaller collar on the Aro. Don't know if that improves airflow which improves flavor or what, but Kanger could afford to improve flavor on its heads. I don't even use Kanger heads for this reason, but Aro heads on my PT2. (Though when the silicone grommets come out, I will buy those for sure and put them on ALL my heads and will certainly try Kanger heads again with the no-res legs to see how they are.)

Anyway... point is, the PT2 tank itself is fine and doesn't need improving... it's the head that needs improving, and adding another coil isn't the answer... fixing what's already there is the answer, imho.

I got the Protank 3 hoping it would be an improvement to the Protank 1/2. It's not. When I started vaping, the Boge 3ohm cartos were the best thing I could find, and it wasn't until the Protank 1 came out that I switched. I tried all sorts of carto tanks, atomizers, and everything else I could find. Nothing was as good as the Boge cartos until the Protank. I've tried RBA's, and apparently I'm either not using the right juice, or making decent coils. The RBA's are okay, but not optimal. I was really hoping the Protank 3 would be the next step up. It's failed me on all fronts. When I first got it, the draw was much tighter than the Protank 1/2, the heads that came with the device only lasted a day or two before getting burnt tasting and dying, and it didn't produce any better vapor or flavor than the Protank 1/2. I tested it with different juices at different voltages. It's just not as good as the previous versions. I did finally find a vendor that had 3.2 ohm coils for the Protank 1/2, and those are really good. I just ordered a Russian 91% based on the reviews, and I'm hoping that's the next great thing. In the meantime, I'm sticking with my Protanks with the 3.2ohm heads.
