Well it arrived!, I got it in all Black, couple questions, I made a micro coil as I did for my kayfun using 28 gauge Kanthal and cotton. It is 1.2 ohm, is this considered standard for the Rio? I'm relatively new to this so to avoid burning my wick and so I don't get a burnt taste, how many hits does one take before squawking again? Also, upon waking in the morning I suppose I should just squawnk and be good to go? I do miss the luxury of checking my battery status with my MVP 2.0, how long do you think my 18650 2000 mah battery will last, I normally go thru about 4 ml sometimes 5 ml of juice a day.

I was reading on another part of the forum something about the O ring and making sure the reomizer is pointing up, I didn't quite understand this but I do have the air hole lined up with the coil and all seems fine. Lastly, am I right to change the cotton weekly and the coil 3-4 weeks?

thanks to all who respond

Hello Randym43 and welcome

I dont think there is a standard coil for a reo . Run a coil that makes you happy
As far as how many hits you get from your atomizer it will vary depending on your atty build ohm wicking material all change the out come how high your coil is from the base . I get about 4 or 5 hits per bottle push . A guy running .5 ohm may only get one or two before a dry hit

You should change your battery once a day
The o ring goes in the base of the juice well . Make sure the air hole isn't on the side you lean the mod to when you take a vape

Thanks guys, I assume the question regarding coil and cotton replacements are correct?
I dont use cotton myself I use silica . I change my wick once a week sometimes longer . I no guys that have been running the same coil for months .

If you could show us a picture of your coil I am sure we may have some pointers

Well, I'm far from a cotton ninja:laugh: but it appears to me that you have more cotton than you need. Try reducing it about a third and cut the end opposite from the juice hole a little more away from the edge of the base.
I can get 3-4 good hits before i need to squonk again.. Takeoff the cap, squonk and watch how much juice comes out of the hole..it should just cover the coil before it subsides.

Your coils are great!

and WELCOME TO REOLAND!

There'll be more Reo:)ites before too long to welcome you also and give you lotsa pointers..all you need do is ask..oh..and I change the cotton nightly if it's a dark juice and at least every other day for the rest of them. After a day or so, the cotton seems to get too saturated to keep the good flavor going...but you'll soon hear from others with more knowledge.

Congrats on the new Reo and Welcome to Reoville. I change batteries twice a day, a fresh one in the morning and another around 3 or 4. I use ceramic wicks and have gone 8 weeks and only changed because I was board. I get about three good lung hits before needing to squonk again.

The wick does look like too much cotton. When you got too much it cannot expand and soak up the juice easily. Also most of the cotton people change every day or so.

Congrats and welcome. You will find a wealth of knowledge here in the threads and from all the Reonauts. This stickie and others will answer a lot of your questions: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/270331-free-reo-forum-thread-index.html. If they don't just ask.
It won' take long before you are able to tell when to change out your battery. Once you become accustomed to how your Reo vapes, when that vape becomes less intense you will instinctively know it's time to change the battery.

Congratulations! I am envious. I just ordered my first reo tonight. Just like you, I'm going to be very new to the bottom feed world of reos. I, along with many other newbies, would really appreciate it if you would continue to share your experience and learnings on this thread over the next few days/weeks.

I wish Rob and crew could just blink and make mine appear in my hands. I would have paid the extra shipping.

And, usually, when you get down to a little less than half a bottle of juice, it's close to time to change the battery and fill the bottle, as it gets just a little harder to squonk then. A grand should last you thru a work day, unless you do overtime! Tehn just take a little bottle of juice and a freshly charged battery with you...

or buy another Reo:laugh:

cuz you will anyway and sooner rather than later...we all sucuumb to the Reo fairy dust infused in all the Reos....it's inevitable....

Thais guys, never heard of or seen a ceramic wick, of course I'm a newbie, only been off the stinkies for about 5 weeks, but have read tons , watched many of vids, spent a bunch, and now delving into DIY juice, so I'm keeping myself busy:) , the pic I agree looks like a lot of cotton but it really is rather small, in fact when I first threaded it I was sure it wasn't enough, it sure is vaping nice that's for sure. I was a 2 pk a day guy and been using 24 mg juice but I think I may have to cut it down with this bottom feeder cause it is strong but rather flavorful. I did read not to change my nic strength for about 2 months just to not get the craving for the stinky. I'm loving the REO though!

Welcome fellow new Reo user. I've had mine for a week and just love it. From your picture you coil looks fine. You have the basic idea, you just have to experiment with different amount of wraps on your coil, smaller inner diameter coils, larger coils until you find what your perfect vape is. Mine is actually about 0.7 ohms (less wraps and wrapping around a smaller diameter drill bit). I also had to drill my airhole out larger because the stock airhole was just too small for me to get a satisfying drag out of, but be careful... the top cap is made out of soft brass. I moved the drill bit around too much when I was drilling and it enlarged the hole larger than I wanted so now it's a little airier than I like (not as much flavor).

Luckily Rob sells replacement top caps for like $9 shipped.

I use cotton yarn as a wick in mine Reo because I don't like the taste of silica or ekowool and it's been my experience that cotton yarn holds more juice and sucks up the juice faster than the same size wick made out of a cotton ball.

You are going to love your Reo and congrats on the quitting cigs for 5 weeks! You're past the worst of the cravings. You'll still get them, but they start getting less and less severe, until it's pretty much replaced with a uneasy feeling that you cure with a vape.

Oh and yes, you really need to get a bottle of 18 or 12mg of nicotine. I'm down to 6mg and sometimes 3mg. Vaping 12 makes me cough, which thanks to vaping only happens when I vape too strong of a nic.

Welcome and prepared to get obsessed. LOL

I used cotton before and have since moved to bamboo and ceramic. Bamboo is 3 times more absorbent than cotton and ceramic last a very long time. I have a built with ceramic that is nearing 4 months old. About the batteries try the AW 18650 1600 Mah it's actually better than a 2000 Mah because it stays in the 3.7 area longer than the 2000 Mah. That's the sweet spot where the vape is best. I also have a few other batteries but I haven't used them enough to have a real opinion on them yet.

Thanks all for the warm welcome and information sharing, very helpful. Is there any info here regarding ceramic wicks and/or videos? I sure like the idea of the long listing wick.
