I would have posted this in Halo's forum but I don't have permissions there.

I just received my G6, which I ordered with Tribeca and Prime 15 for flavors. I decided to start off with a Tribeca carto... and in all honesty, I have been struggling to keep the nausea away! This concerns me primarily because I am using an e-cig for the sole purpose of quitting smoking, and all I keep thinking about now is rolling up a real cigarette to get that taste out of my mouth.

I'm now afraid to try the Prime 15! I definitely do not want to be scared away from this promising form of smoking-cessation, so can someone recommend a non-sweet, preferably non-noticeable kind of flavor to go with? Something more neutral? Should I even bother with flavors? Should i just go with unflavored juice?

Oh yuck. This thing is just too damn sweet!!!

What nicotine concentration is the eJuice? Feeling a little nausea is common when switching to eCigs depending on the device you're using and nicotine level. When I first switched form the disposable ecigs to an eGo I was used to vaping it the same way and that made me nauseous at first. This disappeared completely after the first day. On the next, I felt like I needed to step up to a PVD. So while it varies from person to person, you may need some time to get used to the change. Try taking smaller pulls and give it a day to accustomed to it. Buying some lighter concentration nicotine juice (something like 16 or 18 mg) might help also starting out. On the other hand, I wouldn't advice going too low on the nicotine level because if you just quit smoking your cravings will be there.

It may be the Tibecca flavor that you have a distaste for. I've never tried it, but it's supposed to be a semi-sweet RY4 tobacco flavor. I'd give the Prime 15 flavor a chance. If you don't care for it, there's thousands of other flavors to try, even flavorless. Try a fruit or coffee flavor.

Half of the challenge to successful vaping is finding a great flavor that you like. You may go through several flavors before you find something that you genuinely like. The only way to find one is to sample multiple flavors. Few of us now vaping are still using the first flavor that we tried.

Tribeca is a tobacco/caramel/vanilla blend. I think it's the best, but not something everyone would want to start with.

Prime 15 is a lot closer to a tobacco.
Tribeca was my first too and it worked well. I started with a Triton tank system, though, and was able to steep the Tribeca, which mellows dramatically and more closely resembles tobacco over time. Never tried a carto, not interested.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. This is 18 mg strength. I am a RYO smoker, and I don't use filters, so I figured 18 mg would be actually less than I'm used to? It's something to consider, I suppose. But I really get the intuitive feeling that it is the caramel-y sweetness that is making me feel quesy. I don't particularly care for sweet things, at all. I drink black coffee, for beer I drink IPA's, I snack on pickles and olives. I eat stinky cheese. Those are the kinds of flavors my taste buds tend to like. So maybe I will go ahead and give the Prime 15 a try, and if that doesn't work out, I'll try unflavored liquid.

Thanks again, everyone. :)

Halo Tribeca was actually my savior... I received my Green Smoke kit on Saturday, I was using 0.6% cartos and those made me dizzy and nauseous. I could only take 2-3 drags every 2-3 hours. I thought I was overdosing on nicotine because of my symptoms, BUT... on Monday my Halo Triton kit arrived. All my Halo juice was 1.2% and I thought for sure the Tribeca @ 1.2% would totally mess me up... Wrong!!! Been vaping it steady ever since Monday with absolutely zero side effects.

You will see it posted a lot, but it's true... everyone is different and reacts differently to different brands and juices. If you react badly to all the Halo juice... time to pick out a new brand to try out. Good Luck and stick with it, once you find the juice that works for you... you will wonder how you could have smoked all those years ;)

Me... I smoked for over 26 years :vapor:

Tribeca is a semi-sweet tobacco. Prime 15 is nutty, less sweet.

Torque 56 is a grassy, very slightly sweet plain-type tobacco. Freedom Juice is a dry, slightly spicy tobacco. Turkish has a cardamon zing to it. Lonhorn is said to be like a mild cigar.

Coming straight off analogs with Halo as my first juice after the gas station cigalikes, I thought Torque56 was sweet. But it is the most analog like. 4 months later, and I like the sweeter vapes and can't vape Torque56 very long :)

Some people have a reaction to some juices I love drinking coffee and when I started vaping I decided to try all the coffee flavours I could. Cappuchino will have me throwing up in no time couple of vapes of it and I get intense nausea. A friend of mine can't vape ry4 so you might just need to experiment with different flavours to find those you like and get on with. I'm going through a fruit phase at the minute.

May not be the sweetnes of the juice making you nauseous could be the strength of the nicotine. Or the PG/VG level.... But I am going with the overload of nicotine level.... Wither the level is too high or you are hitting it too much...

Whatever you do, don't lose hope yet. Remember that almost all of us here were once serious smokers as well, and never thought we'd kick the habit. I'm now four months without an analog and think I love vaping more than I ever loved smoking. If a time traveler were to have told me this in January, I'd never have believed it. I do believe that an important part of the transition is variety and a device that's conducive to it. (I started with a Triton and have since moved on to assorted variable wattage mods and settled on the ProTank as my favorite clearomizer.) Understand that you will come across juices you don't like. I started by trying every single liquid Halo sells, and when I realized I only really liked about four or five of that lot (Tribeca, Prime, Torque, Freedom Juice, and Sub-Zero) I started branching out into other vendor's lines. And believe me, there's some good stuff out there; stuff that you'll like much more than Halo. However, Halo is an excellent place to start, as they tend to come closer than most to capturing the analog sensation you're seeking more than anything when you first attempt to switch to e-cigs. What people say about your tastes maturing over time as your analog temptations recede and your taste buds come alive is true, though. In short, make sure you start with a system that allows you to try flavors other than those sold in pre-filled cartos, and treat yourself. If you can afford it, order sample sizes from all over.

Based on your tastes in beer and coffee, I suspect you'll enjoy Ahlusion's Blue Grass Burley and Vermillion River's Kentucky Blend.
