Hi all!

I just received my Triton kit in the mail yesterday! I ordered the black 650 mAh batteries - which match my black G6's. It is fantastic. I filled the first tank with some Tribeca, and have been vaping it ever since. The taste of the Tribecca is completely different from the taste in the G6 mini tanks. It does taste much smoother. The coil also, to me, seems to not be getting as hot as the coil on the mini tanks. The Triton tank also "pulls" or draws completely different. It is a MUCH, much "looser" draw, and takes a very little pull to operate - which I'm getting used to.

However, the only odd thing that I've noticed a bit about the flavor of the Tribeca in the Triton tank is that I think that I got a little bit of the flavor of the wicks (which was not fantastic) when I first started using the brand new tank. Is this common, or has anyone else experienced this? It seems to be decreasing, which is good - as I am looking to purely get the flavor of the juice alone.

I used the first 650 mAh battery for a little over an hour, and then charged it up to top it off (which I seem to remember being the advised course by DaveOno, if I'm not mistaken?). I've been reading several threads to get any advice, but would love to hear from any of you as well! Overall, I am really liking the Triton. I also like that it seems to burn smoother and not heat up as much. From using the mini-tanks, I was starting to get some scortching & soreness on the roof of my mouth, which was not pleasant. I don't think that I was vaping too too often, and it was getting a bit frustrating, so I am hoping that things will get better with using the Triton (but I still certainly plan to use my G6's)

Thanks, Halons! Hope you all are having a great morning.

Glad ya got one and so fast! Seems like me and you both got an easy, simple route for the federal employees to be timely. Im happy that you're enjoying the added flavor and less heat. I was enjoying some tribecca just a moment ago as well. I think the wick taste might be normalish.. Did ya let the juice soak in a for a bit? I usually fill er up and let her sit horizontally for about 15 minutes (sometimes only 5)...Sometimes I noticed you just got to give it a lil vapestart....

Thanks for your replies, guys. Yes, I did let it "wick up" for about 15 minutes. The taste seemed present for quite awhile after first using (and might still be a bit present, I believe, albeit to a lesser extent). Maybe I am just not used to the taste of these wicks. Also, it could potentially be the scent of the foam in the cool Halo storage case permeating a bit into the wicks? The smell of that foam is god-awful, and one can smell it several feet away upon opening the box. I noticed that, unlike the separately-wrapped mini-tanks, the Triton tanks that came in the Triton kit box were unwrapped (but my separately-ordered smoke Triton tanks came wrapped). I am thinking that there is a good chance that that extremely strong odor got into the dry wicks a bit. It will likely go away, I'm hoping. Thanks again!

You can also rinse the starter kit coils and tanks in distilled water or cheap vodka and pat them dry with paper towel. I always let mine dry completely, some say this is not necessary. Take a coil from another tank (or if you bought extra) and put it in the starter kit tanks. This might get some of the odor/taste off them.

Another new Tritonian!!

You might just be tasting a bit of the wick. Sage's sage advice is good. I've read several others that rinse everything right out of the box. Who knows what remnants might be present. I'd open the other tanks, take the black top off, and let them air out, after giving them a good sniff.

The Triton tanks don't heat up as fast, cause for one, there's more mass in them, more juice, more metal. It takes longer to boil a quart of water than a pint.

And when I stick in a new coil, sometimes it seems it takes half a tank until the flavor really blossoms. Like maybe the coil/wick is getting "broken in?"

As to the soreness in your mouth; try aiming for different parts of your mouth throughout the day. Angle up or flat, and either side. imho, these flavors are sometimes so intense, it might be affecting a spot if that's the same spot you continually subject to the vapor.

And don't forget the water!! Drink water! And you have to put the Triton down every so often... :)

Thanks for all of your advice guys! I appreciate it. And thanks, DaveOno... I will definitely follow your advice. The more I think about it, the more I become convinced that the terrible chemical smell wafting off the foam permeated into the wicks and tank in general. I am actually shocked how a foam could smell so strongly. I LOVE Halo's cases (and have 2 of them now), but that foam is some foul-smelling stuff. I'm going to try to leave my cases open to let them air out a bit.

Oh, and a quick question about battery charging (since I know that you and your bro know much about batteries). Do you advise that I use each new battery for a small while and then put it on the charger? How long should it remain on that charger? After this first initial charge, I plan to never charge them until the charge gets all the way down to virtually no charge. Thanks!

Charging? They probably got the initial charge from the factory. But I always charge them fully when I get them.

You charge until the light on the CHARGER goes solid blue. The regular bats will turn their button on, but they aren't fully done till the charger says "blue". (As opposed to the VV bats that glow while charging, and the button is off near the end, but same thing, when the charger turns solid blue.)

You won't hurt them if you wait for the blinking Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC), as they won't fire past that. Now the batteries I use for RC helicopters hit the LVC and the power goes to like 50% to permit some control to immediately land. But you could run them further down. And this causes damage. They recommend not hitting the LVC, but to time the flights and stop before the LVC.

With Triton regular batteries, with experience, you'll taste the voltage getting weaker. To me, it's not as enjoyable, so I'll charge them. There's no problem charging early. The voltage goes from 4.2 fresh off the charger, drops quick to 4.1ish, then slowly drops until near the end, 3.7ish, then falls off quick. The LVC is about 3.6, as I haven't measured a voltage lower than that.

Charge them when you think you should. That "300 cycles" is an estimate, and there's no real consensus on a standard for Li-oin bats.

Here's a graph. Don't go by the values, it's from some other device, but the discharge slope is similar.

Enjoy...

I used to work in a distribution center for a major clothing retailer. (think really cheap!!) We'd get a 48 ft. shipping container of flip-flops from China. As soon as the doors were opened, the whole room would reek of the smell of fresh foam. It's some chemical that will evaporate away in time. (polyurethane? volatile organic compounds?) I can smell that foam scent when I go to the store and go near the flip flop display.

Hey, the foam underlayer of new carpeting has that smell as well. As does some "memory foam pillows". It's why you should always air out fresh foam.

Look at you, my little researcher has been reading some threads around here.

And as a fellow G6 lover some juice flavors you'll probably still prefer in your cartos too. Try your carto with cone on your Triton and see the difference a battery can make. :)

Thanks for your incredibly detailed, and informative, reply, DaveOno! You are a man who knows him some batteries! (Insert cheesy "copper top" joke here). I will definitely be bookmarking this thread for further reference.

I can only imagine the horrendous smell of all of that enormous quantity of rubber in one room! Slightly exaggerating here, but I can almost feel my cells going malignant when taking in a glorious lungful of that rarified air. Both of my cases are currently airing out now. I think that if the clear Triton tanks were packaged my problem would be solved, but I am airing out the second tank right now as well. Thanks again!

Thanks, Evie! I've been trying to be a dilligent boy and do my research. I am also fortunate to have a job in which I am behind a PC screen every day and have the luxury to screw around at work a bit. The threads are very informative, and I like to do my background research before pestering the veterans with commonplace questions.

I hope that you are feeling better today! Also, I hope you are taking it easy on yourself at work until the weekend arrives.

I'm glad you got it and are enjoying it. Once you get used to the pull on the Triton, the G6 will seem like sucking a thick milkshake through a straw.

I must be an oddball because I love the smell of tire and shoe stores. :D

Thanks, GreenLeaf. The pull on the two batts/tanks is entirely different indeed. And I also like the smell of tire stores. The smell coming from the case foam, though, is, to me, way different than a rubber smell. It is a much more acrid, chemical foam smell. Thank God it starts to go away eventually - as I'm pretty sure it was the foam that made the Triton wicks taste off. My G6 case, purchased a bit over 2 weeks ago, smells far less than the brand new Triton case.

Cherokee1969 I just copied this from an old thread but I thought I would show you what you can do with that wonderful Halo case. I now have mine holding 8 Tritons using 4 Kits that I purchased and I just put my G6's in a little make-up bag since I use the cartos and not the mini tanks, I don't have to worry about the cartos leaking ever. :) But I like my Tritons protected. :D

Okay I used 2 G6 starter kits and 2 Triton starter kits. I removed the inserts which are 3 inches wide and I cut them exactly 1 1/2 inches in half. I have not glued them in and you have to trim the felt edge that lines the inside of the lid.

This is the G6 insert cut in half.......

This is the 2 Triton kits put together in one Halo box with 2 Tritons in the lid and they are secure in the lid........

This is the 2 G6 battery halves put together in the lid and the 2 Triton battery halves in the base.........

And this is the same set up as above but I have it holding 1 Triton w/tank, 2 tanks, 1 VV Triton battery and 3-3ml sample bottles. Plus the 4-G6 batteries in the lid.

If you had 4-Triton starter kits you could have the case hold 8-Tritons w/tanks. :)

WOW, Evie! Your cases look amazing.:thumb: I don't think I would have ever thought to place the foam cut-outs in the lid! Did you glue them in after removing them & cutting the foam in half? That is some really impressive set-up you have there! I was just reading over some of your first threads yesterday, and you sure have come a long way really fast! As for me, I only have one G6 & one Triton starter kit, but if I do buy more at some point, I will surely follow your lead regarding your storage cases!

No I didn't glue them in but after so much use I probably will. You do have to cut a line along the edge and corners of the lid felt so it will lay flat against the edges.
