Finally decided to stop lurking and start posting, so I figured I should say hello. And thanks to all of you for all the info you never knew you were giving me. :p

I've been vaping since November 2013 and had my last cigarette on January 15. It took a while but yay me! My kids appreciate how much better I smell and my wallet thanks me.

I'm a budget vaper using a pair of vision spinners and a small handful of evods/mini protanks. I order juice mostly from MBV and am mostly satisfied but am always open to suggestions for quality budget juice and other ways of actually using vaping to save $$$ rather than spend it (which would be all too easy to do!)

Glad to be here. :)

Welcome to ECF :)

I found that it helped my vaping budget enormously to start making my own juice, and MBV is a very good place to start. It's where I get my flavorings, and the juice I now make is better than any I ever got from the stores, as well as drastically cheaper.

Hello and Welcome Churchmouse! Congrats on making the switch. MBV is one of my favorite vendors and I DIY (Do my own juice). I like some of their flavors though so I order their flavorings and add my own base and nicotine. Wizard Labs is one place I go to for my nicotine and ecigexpress is where I get my pg/vg base. My other flavorings come from perfumers apprentice and ecigexpress since they carry so many different vendors. To start out simple I'd use MBV flavors and add my own base and nic.

I like MBV! As far as budget goes they are the best! What types of flavors do you prefer?

A lot of fruits (vaping blackberry right now!), cinnamon roll of course, and strangely a sample of wintergreen they sent me made me realize I really like mint even though I never smoked menthol (and still don't like it in other flavors). I have a sample of cotton candy steeping I wouldn't have ordered, but it smells really good and you never know... that's one of the things I like about them! Surprises! :D

I'm interested in DIY, it sounds right up my alley! I made the switch to vaping after being laid off and quickly realizing my unemployment is in no way going to cover the cost of food, bills AND cigs. I'm glad I did it for other reasons too, but anyway...what are the startup costs like to get into DIY? I see how it would be a big savings long term, but can't make a big investment atm.

Welcome to ECF! Congrats on quitting :)

I'm in the same boat as you, money is super tight and vaping came into my life at just the right time.

I looooove MBV!

Personally I think the best way to start DIY on a budget with a small initial investment is to find a couple flavors you like and order either some premixed non-flavored mix in the PG/VG ratio you prefer and a couple bottles of the flavors you know taste good to you OR buy the PG, VG and nic in smaller sizes and go from there.

Personally I plan to go with the first option. I love Blue Moo from MBV so I plan to buy a good size of that and a nice size 50/50 12mg unflavored mix. I've been saving my empty bottles and washing them well but bottles are pretty cheap too.

If your budget allows (mine doesn't ATM) you can go all out and buy large bottles of PG and VG and nic as well as all the other items you need like gloves and syringes and nic testing kits etc. I want to do that eventually but I want to do it the right way when I do go the full DIY route.

The good thing about buying online is you can fill up your cart with everything you need and get a good idea of the cost involved before you do anything. Good luck! :)
