Hello everyone!

Right now, I'm vaping using the KBOX (I got it from Vaporbeast for $18 - it's authentic and such a steal!) and Subtank Nano.

I like this combo because the Subtank is so easy to clean (hardly other tank comes entirely apart as it does, I can clean and dry every single nook and cranny!) and the coils just have no bad taste whatsoever!

Some problems are though, is that the Subtank really turns any amount of nicotine into a really acidic, hot type of throat hit (even 3mg!) and seems to give a doughy or artificial presentation to a lot of flavors - the Atlantis seems a little better on both regards.

Has anyone experienced this? I've also noticed that with the Subtank coils, generally only 3 of the loops actually seem to get hot, rather than the 4...

Other than that, I also haven't been able to go higher than 30 watts on the 0.5 coils without getting a hot rubber taste. A little odd.

Apart from all that, I've just ordered an e-liquid from Black Note. They make Five Pawns-level NET's ($30 a pop) BUT they have a full money-back option if you're not happy (they even pay return shipping!) and to me that's worth it. I just hope that their lowest nic (6mg) is bearable on the Subtank, and that the Subtank doesn't cut out all the base notes.

I'll let you guys know what I think!

Higher PG % in the juice also makes the hit harsher. I like 50% or 60% VG for a smoother hit. The coils are not all resistive wire the ends are non resistive wire welded to the resistive wire that gets hot.
also different tanks/coils will handle different wattages. 20-25 watts may be as high as you want to go on the tank. Just because the mod will go higher does not mean the tank will give a good vape at the higher wattages.

also not all juices vape their best at the same or higher wattages.

I've been using the Subtanks for a while now. They really don't like to go much above 25W...around 20-25W seems to be the sweet spot for me using the .5 coils. Also I don't use anything less than 50% vg, preferably higher to avoid that hot hit...I get nice smooth hits off my current juice at 50/50, 3mg.

I'm vaping anywhere from the lowest setting to 30 watts, depending on how hard I feel like drawing. This is what I love about the KBOX - my coils were simply getting a little too hot and dry on a simple mod, and since getting the KBOX and dialing it down a little, I still get the same clouds but I'm not burning up coils!

The only thing that bugs me is that the Atlantis simply gives better flavor after it breaks in after nasty period. On the Subtank, the juices seem to come through either thin, doughy, or it really seems to bring out those artificial notes in fruits and tobaccos. An RY4 will taste like a flower on the Subtank, for some reason.

I'd use the Atlantis, but the coils are more expensive and they are truly nasty tasting for the first 20 puffs or so - they really taste like burning material for that break in period, and I get them as wet as I can. Has anyone tried the new cotton Atlantis coils?

How it tastes is more dependent on the coil and wicking than on the tank itself

Any coil will have a point at which more watts will be too high; 30 watts is pretty high for most tanks; people tend to run higher watts on rda's than on tanks; and rda can be thought of as a big coil, and no tank.

Inside your tank, where the coil is, there has to be an insulator material to separate the positive from the negative; if the coil gets too hot, that insulator material may start to decompose, giving you a plastic or rubbery taste.

Another question is that on the Subtank, a lottt of my flavors are really tasting doughy or pale in comparison to what they do on a dripper. A lot of the shops around here have drippers to test the E-Liquids, and while they pop and sing on a dripper, they'll end up tasting really pale on the Subtank.

I wonder what's going on there? I'd have thought with the coils being cotton and all, that the flavor would be virtually the same but... it's really different. Has anyone experienced this?

Welcome Submarine! Trying to hit the 0.5 ohm coil at 30 is at its top end. I can't take my 0.5's much above 23W without mine tasting nasty....

Robert's got some good points.... Different juices vape differently, so what you can push with one, you can't do with another. You just have to find what works for *YOU*.

My mods are pretty much all 30W and above, but I've never taken any of them above 25 - just because they can go there doesn't mean I like them there :)

One thing I'm wondering... I know that I've gotten great flavor on a rebuildable, but do tanks like the Kayfun or rebuilder portion of the Subtanks give the same flavor? Or are they more along the lines of the Subtank coils?

I don't know what it is, but the Subtank coils just are not giving me any flavor at all. They only seem to put out the faintest trace, or a really screwy version, of whatever the flavor is...

I also got to try the Black Note E-Liquids, and thankfully they have a return policy because they just were not for me.

Decided that I can't spend $20-$30 a bottle anyway, and ordered some Charlie Noble's Custard. $6 a bottle is really the right price for me because I can go through 15ml's quicker than a pack of cigs if it's truly good stuff!

Hope it works!

My point being, turning up your power may be counter-productive to a good vaping experience.
