So my good buddy just got me into vaping after I told him I was hankering for some cig urges. He gave me one of his old rechargeable Volt 510's with a couple of cartomizers and a bit of his "Boba" juice.

Well, the first cartomizer I used was doing well and gave off the buttery nut blend of the juice until I "burnt out" the device and needed a new one.

Well I "un-condomned" a new cartomizer that was included in the little bundle my buddy gave me; this was a new cartomizer...not the same type as the one I'd FIRST used on my 510.

I popped a good 12 drops in it and gave it a few drags just to notice it was harder for me to vap off this one than my old one, and when I finally got a good drag, my 510 LED light kept flashing...as if to say low battery, RIGHT when I'd charged the son of a ..... an hour and a half!!

It keeps doing the same thing of my new carts... Any ideas?

I'm thinking of just asking my buddy where a good site is to buy a reliable e cig with stronger batteries and better features for a good price...

I have not had the pleasure of using a Volt, but they have quite a following, so I will bump you to keep this in sight line of Volt users!

It may be that the batts are just old. Are they cig size? The cigar size (650 mah and up) give much longer life and take longer to charge, but most folks move on to them as they switch to vaping. At this point, I usually use a wood or tube mod. You just need to decide if the cigar/cigarette model or a larger device is what you want and you will get plenty of suggestions of where to buy what you want next!

I encourage you to take a look at the starter kits at SI if you want a ciggie style of set up-the Volt has been great. I f you want more info once you take a look, let me know on this thread. For instance, there is a coupon code yourvolt00 for 15% off and I suggest the 78mm batteries.

I like the Volt a lot because it is very straight forward and feels like a cigarette. SI has been a great company with good customer service. No I don't work there:)

I'll be following this thread to see what you do think you need.

Thanks for all the help guys! My buddy actually has a small collection of e cigs lol... This Volt was his first, and from then, he's moved on to much...bigger...e cigs, I'm talking bigger than a cigar even, with chrome casings, rebuildable atomizers, and drip tips. It makes my Volt look like amateur hour.

Then again, I like the simplicity of the Volt, not to mention its small.

I just checked the SI link and was interested in the Pro kit. I selected both batteries to be 78mm and after using the coupon code, it came out to around $55. Haven't checked shipping yet though..

Can anyone recommend the Pro kit??

I was just looking at SI's x2 battery. Would anyone recommend this? I could just buy the medium sized x2, and a clearomizer and I should be all set with an upgrade, right?

This seems like it would be a much cheaper alternative to their Pro starter kit; unless im missing something. $33 (x2 900 and clearomizer) seems kind of cheap for a decent e cig....

Yes, the x2 batteries are really nice. I have those as well. Definitely closer to cigar sized and the clearomizers are really nice, too. So if you don't mind having a larger slightly flashier rig, it is a great option. You probably want to make sure you are getting the x2 battery with detachable cord for the passthough mode . It is 19.99. Make sure you have a USB wall adapter to plug that into. The clearomizers work great. They come in several colors. Also, don't forget that you will need e juice. They don't have sample sizes in the refill bottle you will need for the clearomizer but the sample cartomizer size will work on the x2 battery so you can order samplers.

Hope that helped.

Yea.. I was gonna go with the 900mAh one for $5 extra. And I have my iPhone wall adapter and my PS3...so USB ports should be fine.

And yea, I'm using juice right now in my cartos for my little Volt. I'll probably order some more off Totally Wicked to use with the X2. Kind of debating on the X2 or the eGo Twist 1000mAh.

Also, clearomizers are basically just big cartos right? The only disadvantage is that they only sell them individually, correct? Whereas you're getting 5 cartos for $8, you're only getting ONE clearo for $6ish?

Either way... Def a cheaper alternative to smoking cigs

Once they burn out cartos go in the garbage. With the new rebuildable clearos you can buy new heads- simply unscrew old head and screw in new head- takes 10 secs and replacement heads are $3.00 each. My clearo heads are lasting about 3-4 weeks BUT I wash and dry burn them every 2nd day.

The five carto packages come with either the sampler of different flavors or a single juice flavor [don't buy blanks by accident!]. The clearomizer does not come with any juice. The sampler packs are nice to try the flavors and then you can buy a bottle of juice in a flavor you like or ... just buy a bottle of juice. Juices are very subjective in flavor/taste. I tried capachino and thought I would be sick but someone else on ECF was saying how much they loved it that same day [didn't say what company that capacino was from}. The Ry4 is very popular. Tobacco with caramel and a bit of vanilla. My personal favorite but it is hard to know what you will like until you try them.

Definitely is cheaper than smoking for me [once I quit buying new toys to go with my gear:)] I now have enough juices to get me through a month or more and I have already saved $84 on smoking and I haven't even fully quit yet but I have spent more than that getting setup and buying toys I could live without like the lanyard and 5 batteries of different colors and sizes. Still, I will definitely be breaking even within a couple of months.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Just had to jump in here. The Volt has always been, to my knowledge, an 808 threaded device, not a 510. If you bought new 510 cartomizers, and you're using an adapter, they may have a very low resistance coil. If that's the case the Volt batteries may be "shutting down" because they are regulated and protected from overcurrent, which is what a low resistance coil would produce.

A clearo is more expensive that a carto on a per unit basis, but on a lifespan basis is probably just as inexpensive or maybe less expensive. Remember that a standard cartomizer has a capacity of about 1ml while a cleaor has a capacity of 1.6ml. The other, major, difference is the flavor and amount of vapor that a clearo produces when compared to a caromizer. To me, a clearo is a better "experience" that's well worth the price difference.

Overall, the Volt system components are excellent quality and value and the customer support is outstanding. You really will be hard pressed to find a better, more dependable, more economical solution. Just my opinion as a satified customer, worth what you're paying for it :)
