I disagree with the statement about Cartomizers help with flavor, for me it is directly dripping into the atomizer for best taste. Cartomizers and tanks are great when on the move (don't drip and drive). I would look into some of the more premium juices from online vendors like: FreedomSmokeUSA (freedomsmokeusa.com) or Ms. T's Bakery (mstsbakery.com). If you are "underwhelmed" with the nicotine levels, adjust them (I use 30mg atm). If you are unhappy with the smoke produced (adjust your levels of vg (Vegetable Glycerin). I first tried an e-cig (green nicotine) nearly a year ago and found it to be a horrible loss of money and time (made the mistake of buying from a mall kiosk).

Find what works well for you, I would personally recommend using atomizers and dripping directly (if you are able), or invest in a good tank mod (liquinator works well, madvapes.com has some great tank mods for like $10). To me, cartomizers are very hit and miss, I get horrible taste from about half of the ones I have tried (i've tried a lot).

Most importantly, don't give up on giving up tobacco products. I quit a 20+ year habit of smoking 1-2 packs a day, several of my friends have quit as well (smoking and dipping) with the use of e-cigs. If you are interested in more information, feel free to message me anytime.

I meant as a troubleshooting for his cartridge system:)...Yeah I agree with the dripping for flavour.

Thank you for the advice. I'm a little confused about the PG/VG thing. From what I have been able to tell, the more VG it has, the more it will clog up cartos, etc.? So I'm assuming that a mixture of mostly VG you would only use while dripping. Is that correct?

Higher PG produces more throat hit, but less vapour (your smoke will look clearer instead of poofy). PG is also thinner so it's drips more quickly and you will vape it faster. Also some people have a low tolerance for PG, and in some cases are allergic.

VG can be used as an alternative, for those who are allergic to PG, but it also has some qualities PG, doesn't: it produces more of a cloud, and has a slight sweetened effect. It is also thicker, so it might not wick well (drip onto the atomizer), or it might make for a longer vape, as it takes longer for the ejuice to be atomized.

You can tailor the balance to suit your personal needs. If you want more or less of any of those qualities, you just adjust the blend. I think the norm is a PG/VG ratio of 70/30 or 60/40

Well I know you just put $ into a 510 kit but you might want to think about upgrading to a JOYE ego or a RIVA for a good "consistent" starter kit if you don't want to spend too much $.

They run about $40-$50 for 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, a charger and sleeves for the kit. They also come with empty cartridges but if you're having problems getting flavor and vapor then you prolly wanna pass on those anyway.

The mAh is higher on the battery on the Ego's and the Riva's. Anywhere from 650- 1000mAh so you'll get more of a consistent hit and longer battery life. Then try out some Low resistance atomizers. They really make a HUGE difference on vapor production and flavor for sure. Some people will say not to use LR atty's on a EGO or RIVA battery due to "wearing out" the battery life a little early but I've never had a problem in the last 8 months with that.

Maybe try out some Low Resistance 306 atomizers too. They are compatible with a 510 connection. I get massive amounts of flavor and vapor with this set up when using a drip tip.

The tips on ratio's of PG/Vg mixes from others above should really help you out too. It's really about where your comfy with your setup in the long run.

Can someone tell me what the symptoms would be for a person allergic to PG? I started vaping 50-50 to 80-20 PG/VG mixes and have developed a nasty cough, deep and rumbly like bronchitis. I also have nasal/sinus drainage so I'm pretty sure I just have a head and chest cold or actual bronchitis but have been wondering if it could be related to the vaping?

Thanks in advance!

Carbon

Edit: I forgot to mention I also thought just having given up smoking my lungs might be clearing themselves out from the years of nastiness, combined with a cold/bronchitis and possibly additionally compounded by the fact that I am mixing vapor into the mucous creating more volume that is being trapped in my bronchi. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Sounds like you might just be getting the after affects from quitting but you never know. What nic level are you vaping? Could be a little strong? Personally I had flu like symptoms about a week after I started vaping and wondered the same thing. I was vaping 24mg straight PG juice and had a BAD sore throat for over a week. I bought some 100% VG juices my next round to make sure and then slowly went back to 70/30 blends and some 50/50 blends.

Hopefully it's not a reaction though. Hope you feel better soon. Make sure to stay hydrated:)

Thanks for the advice, saw the hydration recommendation a week ago so the headaches have gone away!

I have been vaping 12 to 16 mg cartomizers thus far, though today I got home from being out of town to find my first juices, 32mg as I wanted to up the nic content to curb the analog cravings and then start weaning myself down.

I'm going to the Doc on Thursday, probably get some antibiotics, though it could be viral but have been fighting it for over two weeks so who knows.

Thanks again,

Carbon

No prob carbon. Funny enough I was just checking some old threads I had posted on and a lot of people were even complaining about ulcers in the mouth, migraines, nasal pain, swollen tongues... OUCH!

Yeah drinking water really helps with the headaches. The simplest things prolly have the best results. If that 32mg nic is too high don't be afraid to step it down. I'm trying to go from 24mg to 18 and 12. So far so good on certain juices. Hang in there

I'm not sure if this is the same thing you're experiencing, but when I first started vaping I noticed I was coughing up a lot of mucous and it had me concerned. Then I realized something: that old, dry smoker's cough I'd had for years wasn't dry anymore, it was now productive. The vapor was helping it do what a cough is supposed to do, and that's to clear all that crud out of the lungs and such. I was vaping 80%PG/20%VG, 18 - 24mg nic. I'm pretty sure in my case this didn't have anything to do with an allergy; hope this info is useful to you. Happy vaping!
