Thanks. :D Yeah, the hardware was for me one of those "buy big now, don't worry about hardware for a long time" things. (Other than cartos.) The juices ... well, Juicy Vapor had a couple of massive 30% off juice sales back to back (the second one only offered 30% on the last day, it was 25% for the week prior) and given that they have such a massive selection of flavours ... well, I figured this is a good chance to sample a decent percentage of them. I haven't even gotten my first shipment yet! (First one arrives tomorrow) Dunno if I'll like them but at least I've got a lot of testing to do, so I'm bound to like some of them. And how bad can they be? It seems to be a very popular site. :)

Might be more cost effective to just get an ego starter kit. Doubtful that you can use LR cartos on your volt. I never had huge success with adaptors and they look sort of weird.

Use the ego to test juices or when you go somewhere and you need longer battery life. $30 you can get an ego. Try an adaptor and you can use the cartos on both. But like I said I got adaptors from MV and LF and didn't have luck with them.

More cost effective than picking up a $6-8 901 atty that will already fit my batteries....? I have no intention of trying to use a LR carto on a Volt battery, maybe if I picked up a iGo or PigCig but not on standard batteries. Which is the direction I'd go(iGo or PigCig) before switching to a 510 thread (eGo) just for testing juices.

I don't want a whole extra non-compatible system at this point. Just doesn't make sense to me. There are more than enough 808 options to test different juices. My first test unit will be a used up Volt carto with the filling removed so I can drip right into it. Simple and free...

I'm a newb and started with the volt as well. I do find that I want a little more heat for some juices so I am shopping for a 5 volt or vv box mod. I will still use my volt, however. It's a bit stealthier and works like a champ.

I couldn't agree more on the ry4 from si. It is really good stuff. I start to get nervous when my supply runs low. I wish they sold it in 100ml bottles!

I got my Smokelessimage Volt last week after watching Steeljan's video for beginners:

Beginners E-Cigarette Cheapest and How to Get Started Vaping
‪Beginners E-Cigarette Cheapest and How to Get Started Vaping‬‏ - YouTube

I smoked Drum (and later Samson) handroll cigarettes for 20 years, and I finished my last pack yesterday. I was down to a pack a week. I got to a point where I didn't mind not smoking on weekends, evenings, and when drinking (drinking was the hardest because your inhibitions are down). However I just couldn't stop smoking at work. I'm a computer programmer, and I love taking a smoke break and having a chance to let my brain relax and think about problems in a different way. I also really enjoy the act of smoking. One of my favorite parts was rolling cigarettes, but if I can quit smoking analogs, I won't mind giving that up.

It's going well with the Volt so far. I'd recommend the $44 starter kit so you can have two batteries. One thing I really liked about my purchase from Smokelessimage was that they sent me a shipping notice with a tracking number the same day I placed the order. The package arrived two days later with priority mail shipping. Based on another one of Steeljan's videos, I tried the Desert Joe cartomizer flavor and am very happy with it. From what I gather, it's one of the more tobacco-y flavors, but I still find it a bit sweet, which is not a bad thing. I got a headache the first day I tried it, but I'm not sure if it was related. I've seen some other posts saying that people switch to non-tobacco flavors after a while, and I'm looking forward to experimenting.

Mainly I'm thrilled that I don't have to completely give up something that I really enjoy. It's not the same a smoking cigarettes, but it doesn't suck, and there are tons of advantages. I'm eager to see whether I'm able to stick to e-cigs for the next week and month.

I picked up a 650 mah 808 Vgo the other day on sale for 20.00 and free shipping and it works very good with the volt cartos and other 808 options.. The Echo also has a 808 connection.

Congrads :toast:

I'm at the end of day 4 without touching an analog cig and around 10 days since I bought my last pack. There are still some times I have cravings but they pass and all in all it's not too bad. I truly don't expect to return to analogs.

I'm with you on enjoying the fact I don't have to completely give up the ritual but get to eliminate the nasty stuff. I treat the Volt like a regular cig. I still step outside at work because, like you, that was part of the upside of smoke breaks...clearing my head for a moment of peace and quiet.

I can't recommend Smokeless Image enough. Great product, fantastic customer service, very reasonable prices, and fast cheap shipping  What's not to like...but it sounds like I'm preaching to the choir ;)

So is the Vgo the same as an iGo? And if I'm not mistaken the Echo is an auto version of the iGo....right? So where did you find the Vgo deal? Sorry about all the questions but I've been on the fence about picking up a big batt for the 808 cartos.

Day 2 of using the Volt with no analogs. I haven't had any cigarette cravings yet, which is a good sign. Yesterday evening I was outside, and my battery went dead at the same time my cartomizer ran out. It was a little confusing because in daylight, it's hard to see whether the end of the battery was lighting up. I put on a new cartomizer, still got nothing, and noticed that the tip was blinking. I changed the battery (fortunately I had a charged spare on me) and was back in business.

A couple other things I noticed:
- If your lips go a bit numb, clean off the end of the cartomizer with a napkin. You can get a bit of schmutz built up, and (I assume) it's extremely high in nicotine.
- The best method I found for inhaling is to draw slowly into your mouth (maybe 5 seconds), then open your mouth and inhale air normally. Up until yesterday I was basically trying to breath in through the device, and it doesn't allow enough air to get through for that to work. The issue is that for a cigarette, the harder you draw, the more smoke you get. An automatic vaporizor turns on when you start drawing, but it's a simple on/off switch. It produces the same amount of vapor whether you draw quickly or slowly, so drawing slowly and softly will actually produce a bigger hit of vapor. Maybe an expert could confirm this.

Always make sure you have back up batteries and juice when leaving the house for more than a few hours. The worst feeling is a dead battery and a bad nicotine craving. Almost always ends up in cigarette regret afterward.

First post and a noobie to vaping. Have smoked for over 30 years and failed to successfully quit several times over that time. My mother just passed away this past week from cancer. That experience hit home again that I need to quit. I tried a disposable e-cig from a convenient mart that wasn't too bad, so I started researching on Youtube and also found this forum. Being somewhat self-conscious of trying out one of the larger batteries for public use, I decided the good things I had read about Smokeless Images' Volt lineup would be my informed choice to begin vaping.

Just ordered the Volt premium starter kit yesterday. Got 2 78mm drip resistant auto batteries in black and 2 more of the same in white. These I plan to use out and about when not at home. Also got both portable battery rechargers as I couldn't decide which one I'd like better; I'll probably be loaning a couple of the Volts with one of the chargers out to friends to try for a couple of days.

For home use, I got the 1300 X2 battery, which comes with a passthrough, and added the new X2 clearomizer. Also added several drip tips and a couple of variety packs of juices. Although this was an expensive order (to me), I believe it was an educated, informed choice for the future of my health. So far, I'm glad I found Smokeless Image; a trustworthy business that has the reputation for quality products, has reasonable prices, and great customer service. My starter pack should arrive in a couple of days. I'm excited to vape ... :vapor:

Thanks, guys. I feel fortunate to have found this forum. Will be nice to communicate with other vaporers. I do feel I made a good choice of hardware for my initial experience into vaping; I should be good with that for a while. Next venture will be experimenting with the juices I guess. Although I generally only smoked < 1 ppd (Marlboro Menthol lights), and am forbidden to smoke on my hospital campus (at least 8 hours), I went with the highest nicotine cartos of Smokers Image Menthol Ice as my expected first go to juice. I hope to slowly wean the nicotine levels down.

Sorry to hear about your mother. You can do this. :)

Thanks for the condolence, and the encouragement. I haven't smoked at work (at least 8 hours) for about a year due to it being a tobacco-free campus. I got by initially by sucking Jolly Rancher hard candies; the last 3-4 months I don't even need those. However, as soon as I get into my car for my trip home, I am lighting up a cig and smoking the rest of the day.

I'm counting on the e-cigs to get me over the hump from the tobacco sticks; after all, I can go all day long at work without one. Nicotine patches/gum and even hypnosis failed in the past, but maybe the vaping experience will satisfy whatever addiction hold my body/mind has for the death sticks. As nasty and unhealthy cigs are, I still love smoking.

Congrats! You have indeed made a good choice to start with. For vapers who are just starting out and want something cigarette-like to start, I usually recommend the Volt, or something very like it. They're great little performers, especially if you get yourself some cartos that are a little lower resistance than the ones that come with it. (Though that's a personal preference thing -- if they're working for you by all means continue; I've been around the block a couple of times so I need something a bit more punchy, and low res cartos help with that.) Plus, they look and feel nice and they've really come a long way since the good ol' days of E-cigs. :)
