I am Kristy and an very glad to have found this forum as I am completely new here and have no idea what I am doing.
I have managed to ruin a Kangertech emow and one of the two evods that come in the starter pack. I didn't want to start out with a very cheap one, as I watched my son go through 8 and finally gave up and started smoking again. I order online from reputable companies to save money. The 1st evod just started heating up one day every time I turned it on and so I turned it off for a while. Went to turn it back on, nothing. No lights no vapor nothing. To this day doesn't do anything.
The emow problem just started . This one is only 2weeks old. I took a hit and it had the worst charcoal, burning taste I have EVER tasted. It was very late so I just turned it off. Yesterday morning I changed out the coil and after doing everything, lit it up, nothing. The light is still coming on but no power is coming through it. I charged it for a bit, still nothing but the power light is still coming on. Any suggestions for a novice? Thank you in advance!

    Welcome Kristy :)

Does your battery need to be charged?
Are you allowing a few minutes for your coils to soak up some juice?
You may have pushed the center pin down on your battery if you screwed your tank on too tight. You can gently pry that back up with a small screwdriver to get better contact.

    Good luck!

Hi there Kristy and welcome to ECF!

From the symptoms I'm reading so far, it sounds like your battery is just... a dud. No battery is going to be perfect, even if it is from a reputable company. However, there is still some testing that can be done to make sure your battery is in fact the issue. Does your remaining evod work on another battery? If you don't have a battery at home, but have a vape shop nearby, does your remaining evod work on their battery? There's a lot of factors that could seal the fate of an otherwise indestructible battery.
Another possibility is that your first evod shorted, burning out the coil, but also managing to trip the protective circuitry in your battery. Basically, your battery won't fire unless there's enough resistance, so check for shorts in the bits near your coil, as well as where the threads meet between the clearo and the battery.

Let us know if this helps! We're always here to help :D

This happened with my Aunt's EVOD, she always got a burnt taste while vaping so she just gave the whole thing to me in exchange for my Halo G6 starter kit. Hers was a VV and turns out she had burnt the coil instead of buying a new one I just threw on a cartotank from Ikenvapes. Then the battery she had wouldn't charge...well she had a faulty charger. I happened to have one that work and was able to charge it.

Did you buy it at a local B&M? If so you might want to take it back and see if they can look at it. I have backups after vaping for awhile so it wasn't a problem for me but for a new vaper I know that can be frustrating.

to ecf kkesler. So glad you are here but so sorry that you are having problems. I know it is frustrating. Always important to have backups for everything you need. Lots of sales going on now. You have gotten some good suggestions and I hope they work for you but you may even consider upgrading. The mvp2 is a very reasonable and reliable mod. I've also read lots of good things about the istick. Another inexpensive mod.

    Good luck to you.
