This is probably a dumb question but I'm curious. Have read many posts about people getting juice in their mouths and wondering is that safe? Yes, it's happened to me a couple of times and doesn't taste too great. But common sense tells me we could probably bathe in this stuff without harmful side effects. Just reassure me and I'll sleep better.

Hmmmm....applewood bubble bath, not a bad idea.

No, it's not so harmless that you could bathe in it. A drop or two in the mouth at concentrations under about 48mg won't hurt you. A teaspoon full would. More than a few drops of 100mg in the mouth might make you very sick. A lot depends on your body weight and other factors unique to you, but it's certainly not entirely harmless.

That's good to know. And the bath joke was in poor taste. Gotta say it can't be as dangerous as siphoning gasoline (which I did in my youth) or as gross as siphoning fish scum to empty an aquarium (guilty of that too). I'll be careful, promise.

LOl ewwwwwwwwwww fish scum sounds bad!! Yep that would be very dangerous to me since I have a bad iodine allergy. I knew you were joking about the bathing but bet you could get the same scent though with drops meant for making your own bath products. Heck I use my diy flavorings in cookies and cupcakes since they are just the flavorings and have no nicotine. My kids are eyeing my sweet cream and butterscotch ones for butter beer flavorings.

Actually, it's not far from the gasoline, and it's probably worse than the fish scum, both of which I've also done and, respecting the fish scum, more recently than I'd care to admit.

There's an old thread here from Nov about a nic. supplier that was sending out nicotine that was far stronger than the label indicated. In one case, 227mg nicotine was sent in a bottle labeled 100mg. There was some information on that thread about the lethal dose of nicotine. The upshot of it was that it wouldn't take a whole lot more than a few drops of 227mg nicotine, rubbed into the skin, to kill a 120-150 lb. person.

Of course, you aren't getting anywhere near that concentration in your mouth. And you also aren't getting it all at once. Nicotine dissipates from your system fairly fast. But, it's a poison, it's used as an insecticide and it will make you sick if you get too much of it. It will kill pets very easily, especially birds or small mammals like cats. Children, because of their small stature, are also susceptible. If you have small children, keep your nic juice locked out of their reached. A 4 year old might love the taste of that apple flavored juice.

No small kiddos. But I'm always careful to wash my hands after filling a car to - and I always unplug any chargers and double-check to make sure the coffee maker is off before leaving the house. Halfway to the local library I always have the thought, "Did I remember to check the oven?". Little OCD here. Of course, there was the time I backed out of the garage without putting the door up.....not a good day.
