I would say it depends on what you're putting on it. The top cap of K100 is only @ 18 mm in diameter - great for drippers and the ProTank, but larger genesis atomizers will stick out. The Magneto is 22 mm, so you'll get a more seamless look with the larger tanks. They both perform very well. The Magneto is made of higher quality materials and will probably stay looking good longer, but other than that, I think it's a matter of personal aesthetics.

MAGNETO.. without a doubt..

The K100 is a great starter mech and performs well without any modding and would have been my first suggestion for a starter mech.

The Magneto is another great starter mech but it is a little more expensive but it performs at least as well as the K100 if not maybe better because of the all brass - non chromed over contacts...

The vote goes with a magneto because you are going to use it with an RSST...

Magneto and RSST..

And this is a K100 with an AGAT but you get the idea...

You can get one with no logo and an adjustable pin from Triangle Vapes... $40

I have bought a few smoktech products and they have lost my trust as far as the durability of their mods. They continuously, continuously, put out mods that have design flaws, such as threading that is too thin, or painted over with textured paint, mods that are missing essential features, such as eGo threading on an eGo drip well "look-alike" device, and ridiculous issues that should never be put on the market, such as chromed over contacts, spelling errors in their menus, and occassionally even serious safety issues, such as missing vent holes, and malfunctioning internal batteries. They have a real record of releasing mods that just aren't ready to be released, and then they release new versions of those mods, charging the vendors (and vicariously, us) for the new "editions." They are an irresponsible company. With that said, they have some serious successes that one should take note of. The RSST is one of them. Then again, the RSST was a complete and total copy of someone else's atomizer design, and that made a lot of people very angry. The only eGo battery that has ever broken on me was a smoktech eGo batt. Surprise Surprise.

If I had to choose between these two mods for my only mod, I would probably pick the magneto, only because it seems to be getting good reviews, it doesn't have the design flaws of the 1st few STech mods, its got a magnetic switch, and it is a 22mm mod which means most atomizers will look nice/flush on top of it. Although the magnetic switch did make it a little long for a mod in my own personal opinion. Also, I think the designers were drunk when they decided to include a spider to the end cap, which seems completely unrelated to the name "Magneto" lol.. But I think that about most smoktech mods when they come out. There will probably be a newer version to come out without the ridiculous spider and the smoktech logo. (EDIT- OH, its already out! Look at that, a version 2 already!)

I cannot consciously bash the entire company. I own some of their mods and I've owned a few of their products and I still use them to this day. Smoktech does put out some good products, but you need to be weary before you go and buy one. Make sure everything on your checklist for a good mod is in the smoktech device your buying... Because if you don't, you'll be angry when the version 2 comes out a week after you purchase the version 1.

Puts me at cross road. I really like ths look of the k100, but i want to make sure i can get good clouds out of it. I mean magneto kit is double the price
I have a K100 and I assure you the clouds are plentiful. If you follow the PBusardo videos he has a chart that shows where the various mechanical mods fall as far as conductivity(the ability for the mod to send as much power from the battery to the topper as possible).Out of the Mech Mods he has tested so far, from looking at the chart, the K100 is only bested by the Nzonic which is a pricey mod.As far as RBA's,its hard to find a better look than the K100 with an IGO-L on top.

With that said,I have zero experience with the Magneto so I cant speak of its performance.I do like it and will probably end up with one eventually. For now my K100 is doing a fine job.

The "clouds" that you speak of are more dependent on your atty and build on the atty that the mod itself.. I can tell you that the k100 and the magento perform pretty much the same.. Nothing that you will notice I assure you.

Really if you want "clouds" an RSST is not the way to go.. it will be good, but if all you want is a big cloud - in my experience - dual coil silica sub-ohm is the way to go... A trident is awesome, but on a budget, IGO-W with the air holes drilled out to at least 1.5mm if not 2mm... I build 2 1.2 microcoils with 30awg kanthal and rolled cotton.

I have both of these PVs and since I got the Magneto, my k100 has been shifted to clearo duty with a kick, mainly because it is EGO threaded and I use evods / mini protank and my ZMax screen went dead...

My personal Opinion Would be For your First Mod... Go with the K100. It was my First (have another mod on its way soon) and I use it as my EDV. I use a IGO-W on it and A AW18490 And my Clouds are Beastly. And I like that I can telescope with Ease.

THAT BEING SAID. ive used the magneto and I am buying one sometime this month.. I think the Quality is Very Nice and Well built.
And the Price is Right on it. BUT if your starting out on mechanicals. save that little bit of money and grab some batteries,Charger,Wick,Juice. Cause mechanicals Drain batteries like no other.

After you use the K100 for about a Month Grab up the saved money and get the magneto....that way your set on the supplies and Have your mechanical Gear covered already....And all youll need is the magneto.

Then you have both within 1 month.

The K100 I will swear buy. I never have had a problem..it feels of decent Quality, I also get very Adequate Smoke from it (very very nice)

And it will be more then enough to hold you over till your next buy.

Great starter mod...

But either way You cant go Wrong. :D

Will this make it less safe?

Not at all. Its pretty common on Clones for People to Modify..the most talk about on Cheaper mech mods is the Sanding of the contacts...Dosen't make it less safe at all...your just getting the better conductivity.

Also Docter is Right. I messed up in my last reply about the K100. Its the Atty that makes your smoke clouds..but yes..the K100 will perform Very good..

Get a Igo-w Drill the holes out to 2.5 mm and You got a heavy hitting machine. (my holes are about 3mm but I like that)

The k100 will push the Dual coils and get you very good clouds going off a good atty

Its all what you want.....Get what you think would be best bud

I have a K100 in route to me right now from Fast Tech. So no telling when it will arrive ;) One of my co-workers has one and swears by it! I like the look of it and it appears very sturdy and rugged, which is important to me. I'm into rugged and simple devices. I have some battery questions though. If I use protected 18650's with it do I need a safety fuse or is it ok like that? I don't need a kick, or anything fancy....just a rugged workhouse I can rely on when I am out and about. I have other mods for the house.
