How do you know if a mech mod (Kamry k101) is shorting? I don't think mine is, but I read not to tighten the body too tight or it could...mine I keep fairly tight as with it loose it kind of rattles. My button has to move a fairly small amount in my opinion to fire, but when I let off the atomizer stops producing vapor so I'm assuming I'm good? Just want to be sure.

Welcome to ECF!! :toast:

If you had a short, you wouldn't get any vapor and the battery would be getting hot from the high current draw. I have a couple of the K-100, basically the same with some different slots in the body for appearances. The switches do seem to break in after a week or so, or it may be we're just getting used to the throw and tension.

You should also put a very small dab of Noalox on the body and bottom threads. It will keep them working smooth and lessen any rattles or looseness. When I change a battery or carto, I'll unscrew the telescope portion first, then unscrew the bottom or carto. Replace the battery and tighten the bottom, and then gently snug up the telescope sections.
