Kanger Aerotank Pros and Cons

I've had this tank about a week and have used it everyday. In general I like it, but...

For the life of me I could not get it to work in variable wattage mode. No matter how many watts I tried (I was using a Volcano Lavatube 2.5, adjusts from 3 - 15 watts). I tried both the heads and no joy. Lots of flooding and gurgling. I almost threw it away in disgust. Then I tried variable voltage. Vaped fine, but the coils would flood after 5 minutes. Still disappointed. So I stuck a single coil from a Protank-II in it and it works great in either mode. Nice big billowy clouds. The air control is a plus for big lung hits, however the ring has a tendency to get stuck if you take the tank on and off often. Nothing I can't deal with. tank is solid, does not leak. It also has a new feature of a closed coil well you will need to clean out every once in awhile. The P-III and Aero dual coils suck. Other than that, it is a good quality tank I will use for years to come I'm sure.

Maybe the coil was shorting so when the tube tested the resistance it was getting fluctuating ohms and couldn't decide what voltage to put! When you set it on voltage, it didn't have to decide.

I read somewhere here you have to turn the air control ring all to one side (i forget which way- either all open or all close) before screwing it on the base

I picked up another hint with these protank coils too (any of them). Take the white rubber cap off immediately and they are less likely to taste burnt for much longer. I learned this the hard way as I do most things ;)

that white silicone cap seals the space between the atomizer and the center airtube; it prevents liquid from the tank going up in that tube and cause gurgling/flooding; so don't remove it completely, just flip it over so it does not compress on the wicks but still seals the space.

I've found after 2 weeks with the Aero that when it works, it hits really good. But if the atomizer is bad (which my first one was basically DOA) it will really gurgle and give me a lot of problems. Otherwise, I like the amount of air you get, great for lung hits.

I don't even try to run my protank coils for a full week; often I used to change it out in a day, but right now I guess I got one that seems to be running good for about 5 days so far.

As for gurgling, sometimes you get a batch of atomozers that might be like a millimeter shorter than what fits in your tank, so the space that the silicone cap is there to seal might still have a little gap; flipping that over might help seal it.
