I used the tutorial for changing dual coils to single vertical coil. It's too hard on the draw, I know I need to open it up. I have a aero mega and aero mini, I hate the dual coils. I'm so frustrated right now. I got the VC to 1.6 ohms and it looked beautiful but the coil was too narrow for a decent airy draw. I'm still going to try but I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Considering trading 2 regular protanks for both because what good is the tank if I can't stand the atty's? Is there anything I can do to retrofit the original atty's to the aero protanks? Tried doubling the rubber toppers and it just flooded. And I'm using a provari and love the protank 2 but I hate using the adapters for it. That's why I stuck with kanger. Even if I get a decent air flow on the VC they are such a pain to disassemble and assemble again. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, thanks!

Are you using the dual coils with exposed wicks (older version) or the newer enclosed wicks? For the older version dual coils, what I do is simply rebuild them as I would a single coil, and then lay an extra piece of wick across the top of the coil to fill in the gap. It works fairly well, but I prefer to just use single coil attys in a protank 2. There is no way I know of to retrofit a single coil into an Aerotank, or vice-versa. And if it's the new enclosed dual coils you're trying to rebuild then good luck. It's possible, but not as easy as the older style coils. And personally I think the reason Kanger changed them is to discourage rebuilding. They can't make money selling coils if they're so easy to rebuild as the old single coils. Thankfully I have plenty on hand I can rebuild indefinitely. :2cool:

They are the new style..... I'm wishing I had the old ones but I don't. I was going to attempt just a regular single coil but trying to pull wicking material out the slots or aiming it in front of them seems impossible. And if I don't, I don't know if I'd have another problem on my hands. I rebuilt it and yes it's difficult to access and close the atty up. Your lucky you have the old ones, they are so much better IMO.

I found the older dual coils on fastech, I'm crossing my fingers they are the older accessible style. I didn't know anyone would still sell them.....that's why I needed advice to fix the upgraded coils because I'd rather suck on a ciggalike, they don't work for me at all. I switch them all to cotton and that has made a world of difference to me flavor and vapor wise. Half happy....here's to hoping fastech comes through!

That's the tutorial I followed, I didn't catch it was a 2mm drill bit. How long was the piece of cotton? Did the cotton go under then over the top arm or just around the whole coil? Thanks for everyone's replies!

The cotton is about about 8cm long and just slightly wider than the coil you built. I am using Muji Japanese cotton and each "pad" has 4 sheets stuck together and I am using just one sheet so it is quite thin. The amount of cotton you use will be dependent on the type of cotton you have and how thick it is. This bit is trial and error.

As for the top "leg" what I do is wrap the cotton around the coil twice whilst the leg is sticking out horizontal with the coil then bend the top "leg" down over the cotton and continue to wrap the cotton around the coil so the top "leg" is encased in the cotton then you have less chance of any shorts.
