I've been trying my hand a rebuilding Kanger coils for my Pro tanks, minis, EVOD, and T3.

I bought some 32ga wire, 2mm Ekowool and 1mm standard wick.

Wrapping the 32ga Kanthal wire around 2mm ekowool with a pin centered in the wick, 5-6 coils gets me into the resistance range I want (2.2-2.5 ohms) and the coils look very good - even, nice spacing, etc. I use the 1mm wick for flavor wicks and have been using two.

So here's what I end up with: Primary wick 2mm Ekowool with a 5-6 coil wrap and two 1mm flavor wicks.

The problem is I'm not getting good vapor and can't seem to figure out why. I thought maybe I was choking the primary wick, so I wrapped the Ekowool using a drill bit in the center (which was larger than the pin/needle), but that didn't seem to help. Removing the flavor wicks one-at-a-time didn't seem to work well either. I get vapor, just not the same performance as a standard coil.

So - my qestion is: what are you using?...what is your recipe for recoiling? Do you use Ekowool or just a standard wick for your primary wick?...how many flavor wicks, if any, and what size? Do you wrap around just the wick itself or use a needle, pin, drill bit, screw?

I thought I had read enough and watched enough YouTube vids to produce a nice coil/wick, but apparently I'm missing something. Pretty sure I saw some success using 2mm primary and two 1mm flavor wicks but I can't seem to get that to work.

I know this has been talked about a lot here, but I'm still struggling a bit - any advice?

I have a Mini Pro tank 2 Basic same coils, I use 3mm Silica Wick Torched so is the 30ga wire. I use a common straight pin and slide it thru the center of the Silica and make 5 Full wraps keeping them Very close and uniform at the last wrap I hold the coil with thumb and index Straighten the legs and install allowing the needle to rest in the cutouts, then I use my index finger to force the coil as I pull on the wires fold the ground over and add the rubber grommet and seat it. then install the positive pin. clip the wires left hanging.

At this point make sure you coil is centered well and not grounding on the sides. Once you have the coils the way you like pull the straight pin and clip the wick leaving a small amount extended from the body

With the clipping I cut those to length for flavor wicks I just let them unravel and use the amount I like to match to the juice I am using
30pg/70vg , about 2 strands you can add more for thin juices or find your happy spot.

In order for the juice to transfer the flavor wicks Have to touch the coil, Be sure to prime them with e-juice. more if you flood and gurgle. Add too much and its like pulling a golf ball thru a garden hose.

5 Full raps on 30 ga for me equals around 1.4 ohms and I vape at 8-12 watts depending on the juice
Try doubling the ekowool and the straight pin thru one side and wrap it. The coil has to see fluid to make vapor wrap FIRMLY the wool will expand when wet,

I recently started myself, I have attempted 4 different kinds of build so far. They all had good performance/vapor production but I ran into different issues with each approach.

cotton gave me the best flavor, but I still haven't been able to figure out the right amount to use. seems to be a very fine line between dry hits / just right / leaking. but with each attempt I learn something new and hopefully with time I will be able to get good results with cotton too.

for now the most important to me would be a recipe I can easily reproduce and that gives me consistent results. the one I made today seems like a good candidate but I only used one full tank with it so far. need more time to see if problems will arise, but so far it's performing great and gave me zero leaks.

I combined a few tips from different videos into this build, but basically:

28gauge Kanthal micro coil on a 5/64 drill bit, 10 wraps. came out at 1.8ohms. then fold a piece of 1mm silica in half. take some wire or threading needle and pull from the center of the folded silica into the coil. so it doubles up and you end up with 4 pieces of 1mm silica inside the coil, trim the edges to size. add 1mm silica flavor wick.

so far, no dry hits, good taste and vapor production. been using it with an ego twist at max voltage (4.8), juice is 70/30
