Kanger coil rebuild

I tried my 1st and 2nd attempt at rebuilding a kanger coil twice today and both times got a reading of 0.0

visually, they looked perfect. i cant figure out why.

Check and make sure that the coil is not touching the head. It can also sometimes touch the top post once you put it back on if the coil is set to high in the head. Another area to check is where you clipped the wire at the bottom of the head. If you leave that bit a little long it sometimes shorts once you tighten it to the battery. Those have been the main reasons for my 0.0 ohm rebuilds.

I am new to building coils and had the same problem last night. After some tinkering around I thought maybe i'll grab another base to screw the atomizer in (longshot) and it actually worked, I got a reading.

I still dont know why but the one base I have will not make a good connection.

When you cut the leads on the bottom of the coil, you must be extremely precise about not letting the ends stick out at all. If the ends of the coil are making contact with the base, it will short and read 0.0

thats exactly what it was. one of the leads was a hair too long. i was barely able to clip it but once i did, i got a 1.1 reading

I suggest putting one finger on the bottom contact pin of the head and the top of the coil head and wiggling the wire up and down or in circles until it breaks off in the future rather than clipping it. It will break off so there is no wire coming out of the head and you won't get any more shorting out.

what gauge wire and wick material are you guys using for this?

I use 5 wraps of 30 gauge and cotton for a wick. Gives around 2.5 ohms.

do you have preference on the type or brand of cotton for wick or dose any cotton ball suffice I prefer to use q tip cotton i believe it sterile idk

This is what I do and works every time.

I use 32g and 30g. I like the 2.2 - 2.4 range. On a 1/16 drill bit with 32g, 6 wraps, I get 2.13. On a 5/64 drill bit with 5 wraps I get 2.28.

I use sterile cotton or Sugar and Cream yarn. Depending on the drill bit, I pull out strands.

I get my coils for only $2.99 and usually get 2-3 weeks life from them. I think it's just easier to buy new ones.
