I recently received the aero tank giant as a gift from a friend for Xmas. Upon receiving I was pumped because I had heard nothing but good reviews. I filled tank to the top and let sit so the coil could soak. I fired it up and got the worst burnt hit ever. I checked my volts and it was only at 3.3. I continued to take hits but only got the burnt taste. I switched the coil thinking that maybe it was just a bad one. Same result. I have continued vaping on the coil for a while and now the burnt taste is somewhat gone. But I can't turn the volts up past 3.5 and I can't vape for too long without it burning again. Any advice? Could it be the liquid? My liquid is a higher vg

It's the VG -- it has a higher viscosity like motor oil so it won't flow as well, which means the wicks can't supply the coils with enough liquid.Going higher than 50/50 in a tank will generally be no bueno, and I generally prefer VG at 30-40% in a tank. Christmas tip: add a drop or two of distilled water to the tank, or vodka. Really do this in drops, starting with 1 or 2 and then working up.

Additional tip: try closing down your airway some, it lessens the air and increases the suction, and suck harder while remembering to do a few dry-puffs without firing.

I know, it's a drag (pun intended). Thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

BINGO. Dilute the juice, or switch out for 50/50 or lower. Those Kangers hate higher viscosity juices.

Listen to what the guys have said about buying higher pg juices it really does help. I had the same problem with an aerotank mini, if I took more than 5-6 hits in a row I would get awful dry hits. After getting fed up with it I bought a mechanical mod and a kayfun clone, still not had a dry hit to this day from it. If you have a bit a spare cash after Christmas and you know a bit about circuitry I couldn't recommend a kayfun enough ☺

How do you dilute the fluid? Also I can't replace wick due to the fact that it's one of the newer kanger double coils and you can't remove chamber. Could I boil it to get out burnt flavor?

Nope. The wicking material itself is burnt. Cleaning it won't really do anything at all. Putting a couple of drops of distilled water into the ejuice will work, shake it well and see if the viscosity changes enough that it will wick properly with the coil head.

Ok thanks. I hope the coils just aren't too burnt then because the closest vape store is pretty far away and I hate ordering off internet.

Hopefully I didn't confuse you. With the kanger you have, the coil & wick are one piece made into a coil head, that you screw in and out to replace as needed. The coil will still work but until you replace the whole head, you'll most likely have at least a hint of the burnt taste with any juice you put into it. This is probably why Kanger sells them in 5 packs LOL. Burn one once and you taste it forever.

Alright last question. If I get new (50/50) fluid and it still burns with every other hit, what should I do?

Hey Lofaholts,

You can actually put a drop or two of distilled water or vodka in the tank itself with the liquid to experiment. People will disagree, but for protanks I generally go for 70/30 or 60/40 if I can't modify the coils, but 80/20 will be the safest.

I actually just tried putting a drop of water in and it didn't help at all. I still have to do a dozen primer hits to get one good hit.

Lofaholts,

I don't think you even actually said what your ratio was, just high VG. I said one drop because I was trying to avoid you ruining your juice by overdoing it. You can use more than one, but to give you an idea (based off of my head) If you had 100% VG eliquid, adding 10% distilled water would make it be more like 70/30 PG/VG. You didn't say 100%, so if you're at like 20/80 PG/VG you aren't talking much needed. If one isn't doing it, add a few more and swish around good till you see an improvement, or do part water & part vodka which will definitely help with the hits. :)

That said, I never really run kangers over 3.6V for longer hits, the way they're setup with stock coils I'll just burn ze liquid in ways I can taste. For shorter you can bump it up.
