I just received a provari and an aspire nautilus tank and for the first 2 or 3 hits it tasted awesome but now it tastes really burnt. I filled the tank with e-liquid from Provape.com and set it to 3.3 volts. I've read that the coil is what does it but its literally brand new, is it common to get "bunk" coils or could it be something else wrong?

Hmmm. 3.4 volts is pretty low to be burning the juice. It sounds like the wick isn't wicking enough e-liquid to the coil or not fast enough and you end up burning the wick. I'm not entirely familiar with the Aspire Nautilus. You may need to do a few "primer puffs" - sucking on the mouthpiece a number of times before pressing the fire button and vaping. Also make sure you are taking slow, gentle draws during your inhale technique. Imagine sucking on a straw in a thick milkshake, using your cheek muscles to draw it into your mouth.

The Nautilus has an air control ring in the base of the tank. Try experimenting with different air control settings to see if that helps.

Its not unheard of to get a bad coil head right out of the box. If the above doesn't work out for you, change the coil head and do the primer puffs prior to vaping.

For a batch of Nautiluses, yes they came with bunk coils- I bought one from a local B&M just a month ago. I would think ProVapes would have moved enough of these to be through that bad batch, but that's just a guess... Once I got a good coil though it's an excellent tank. On my Provari, that tank with the 1.8 ohm coil should run 3.6-4.0 volts all day long, maybe higher depending on taste. 3.3V shouldn't be too much.

I got everything from Provape and the tank came with a 1.6ohm coil pre installed, I swapped it out for the second coil that came with it which is a 1.8ohm and it helped a bit but it still has that same taste to it. I've tried pretty much every voltage, as well as primer puffs. I've tried extremely slow drawn hits to fast ones and everything in between. I'm gonna try a different liquid because i'm starting to think it just might be this snickerdoodle flavor that tastes like .... if that doesn't do it i guess ill give the tank a thorough cleaning. Thanks for the suggestions everyone

Yea i tried all 4 settings but it didn't really change the taste or the harshness.

Did you change the juice when you switched the coil? Because once you've burnt the juice that taste will carry over to other coils aswell.
General rule is to begin a new coil at lowest setting then slowly advance until it hits your sweetspot.

I know nautilus have had problems with bad batches, so it might be the coil that's faulty aswell.

Harsness what do you mean by this? The feeling in the back of your throat? That is mostly due high nic content and higher PG.

I wasn't thinking when i switched the coils and left the fluid but luckily i bought a pack of 5 coils in addition to the 2 that came with the tank.
I cleaned the tank, swapped to one of the coils that did not come with the tank and swapped liquids. Night and day difference! When i was emptying the original liquid I noticed that they sent me 24mg nic liquid, which would explain the harshness, but between swapping to a another new coil and a 18mg nic liquid it is 10x better. Perfect amount of throat hit with a good amount of flavor.

On a side note, the only liquid i have is a bunch of sample flavors from provape, where would you guys recommend getting some high quality liquids, that also offer a good variety of PG/VG amounts. I am mostly looking for a lot of flavor and vapor, not necessarily a strong throat hit as my smoking habit is greatly in part to an oral fixation.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out everyone, I really appreciate it.

Glad you got it sorted -esp. since I know how frustrating it is when you've gone for what should be (and is) a first-rate set-up and it doesn't work right for some stupid reason...

As far as high quality liquid... Since they're an approved vendor here I hope it's OK to link Open Source Vapor.

No PG in these juices but I don't really care about PG- doesn't bother me one way or the other. I DO, however VERY much appreciate the approach of "This is exactly what I put into this stuff I'm selling you to inhale. Here are the ingredients, the ratios, and where they come from." THAT part I very much appreciate. Also, all flavours I've tried are great, free domestic shipping, and prices more than fair to begin with.

Killer-juice.
MTbakervapor.

I'll look into them, thanks for the suggestions.

What is everyone's opinion on PG free liquids because from what i've read people are split on it. some claim PG is fine, some don't care, and others won't even touch PG.

Aside from the speculated health concerns are there any actual differences when it comes to vaping them?
