No love?

I had to get one for 27 bucks - at that price it's almost disposable. I mean that is the price of a eGo Twist or Vision Spinner (I know - you still have to add a battery to the Kbox). I have batteries...and chargers.

Regardless, I have to say that I am very happy with it, though it's only been 24 hours. I don't care about the limited adjustment of the wattage. I just popped in a fresh VTC4, set it for 20 watts and attached my full-size Subtank with a 1.2 ohm OCC coil and it vapes fantastic. Hope I don't decide that somehow 20.2 watts is nirvana. :p Oh no, my vape is soooo much better at 20.2 watts...

The big knock besides the limited adjustment is the lack of a screen and not being able to see your setting in the dark. Well, it's not a problem for me. I just push the button until the LED jumps to the bottom. Press two more times and I know that I'm at 20 watts, and every press after that increments the power by 5 watts. Boy that's tough.

Anyway, it seems to be a simple, well made box with a nice finish, vapes strong, fits very comfortably in my hand, and looks fantastic with the large Subtank. As long as it holds up it seems to be a very strong value IMO.

So where are the Kbox owners?

A couple of quick shots, one with an iStick30 for comparison.

I was going to buy one and had one in my cart but then I saw that it doesn't have a USB charge port. I have an external charger but I would mainly use this as an out and about beat up device. With that said I need it to have a USB charger so I can charge it in my car or at my desk at work. Love the concept of it, and the ruggedness it seems to have.

Well yeah they had to make something that didn't look stupid with that huge sub tank on it. I don't know why they didn't make the sub tank 22mm. They really weren't thinking when they made that tank.

I've thought about getting a sub tank, not the full size but the mini to use on my sigelei 150 when I'm out and about and don't want to use my dark horse.

The user replaceable battery really doesn't matter to most people. Especially at that price point. The istick 50 watt has a big battery in it, that should easily last all day and it's cheap so if it breaks in a year just buy a new one

I have read that the original Subtank was designed (at 25mm) around the Kbox. In other words the Kbox was designed by Kanger first and only then did they decide to make the Subtank at 25mm to match the Kbox. Not sure if that is true, but don't care - it looks great with either the full-size Subtank or the Mini.

And regardless of what the naysayers nay about, it's a great value for 27 bucks. Performs better than a lot of mods that cost more. Two that come to mind are the IPV Mini (or anything else running that crappy chip) and the Smok Xpro M50.

I use both. Have a bunch of drippers that I still use on my mech mods and I am currently using a Tobh clone on one of my box mods.

Obviously the Kanger is a compromise. They likely had to omit some frills to keep the price down, like the screen and the USB charging port, but it works well and is well made. For the money I didn't expect it to be on par with my ZNA 30 or my Sigelei 100, but I love the simplicity of operation and I'm confident it will easily power any dripping atty as well as the tanks.

Right behind you...
To each his own. It's great for you and that's good, I use a rda so it's worthless to me.

It would be great for people who only use tanks

I use drippers too. It's just a matter of building to take advantage of boost on a regulated, rather than building around the voltage limitations of a mech mod. People went sub-ohm initially to get more power out of non-regulated mods. But sub-ohm is not just magically better.

With a regulated mod, you could get pretty darn good RDA performance building a 1.2-1.3 ohm setup and running it at 30 to 40w, which would be damn close to a 0.4 ohm build on an 18650 mech in terms of power output, and with more margin for tweaking surface area and heat capacity.

I've been using a mech for about 6 months and just now got into box mods. I've got a sigelei 150 watt coming in the mail tomorrow.

Your right about building for the box vs mechanical. I ran dual parallel 24g at .14 ohms on my mechanical and was more then happy with it.

Now that I've got this box mod coming i really need to learn how to build for the box

With the sigelei 100 watt i had i just did a 10 wrap around a 1/8th inch drill bit with 24 gauge kanthal so i had a lot of surface area and those came out to ..5 ohms and worked great

Been a die hard mech fanatic for almost a year now. Been running .5 dual on my Dark Horse and loving it. Been thinking about venturing into box mods for the added control and to boost up the power for wrapping twisted coils. Seriously looking at this one but i wonder if i need more head room for the dual twisted coils, might hold off until i can get something in the 100+ wattage range.

If the Sub Tank is too "Big" for your tastes, no sweat. That's why they also make the Mini and the Nano.
I have a Kbox and a Sub Box with both sporting ST Minis. Work great, look good, and agree on the removable Battery and to me the rest of what it "Is" is just right.
No need to moan over the lack of a USB, the Sub Box has one. Ta-Da!
Besides, we all have Chargers and 18650 Batts (as pointed out above) right? Then, what's the Problem?
Like all others, I also have a Mech (Hollowpoint) and love it. Have an SX Mini M class in route too.
But, I don't make the mistake of comparing those Devices to each other. They aren't Competitors as they weren't made to be. Imagine that huh....
Different Devices for different Needs and Desires at that particular moment. Again, Imagine That.
There are times when the Sub Box fills the particular Need at that tome better for me than the Mech or the SX will. At that specific Moment in Time, the Sub Box is superior to my other Devices. Not overall or as a whole. Just simply at that time for that desired Purpose.
The Kanger Boxes suit and perform their intended Purpose quite well.
