To begin with, I bought a generic eGo batt that now looking at the website says is 3.6v and I read a comment saying that you shouldn't use anything less than a 3.8v with the 2.5 automizers that the MPT2 comes with.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS STUFF MEANS:blink:

So should I even buy this, which I have seen many people rave about?

And if I can, how do I figure out if I should get 1.5, 1.8, 2.2 or 2.5 ohms for the coil replacement heads for the MPT2?

between here and there
but I should be fine to buy the kanger mini protank 2 v2 with this battery?

Yes. 1.8 or 2.1 heads should be fine and that will work on both the MPV2 and the eGo battery. the mini protank is a nice tank also.
:)

edit...more info

the ohms like 1.5, 1.8 etc is how they tell us what resistance is. The lower the resistance, the quicker it heats up. Trying to use a head that is a higher resistance like 2.5 (more restistance) or higher will drain your stick battery pretty quick and you won't get a good hit from it.

The mvp2 is a nice set-up. Works well with the protanks, mini or reg. Or any 510 threaded carto/clearo you want to try. Again the protank 2 mini works on both of the items you have.

Like others said, the 1.8 to 2.2 ohm heads should do well. However, even if the manufacturer states them to be 1.8 ohms they can vary quite a bit.

I really suggest you get a variable voltage battery, that way you can choose the voltage that gives you the best flavor, vapor combination. That way you aren't slaved to the resistance of your coils.

The iTaste vv3 is a nice eGo style battery that is a variable voltage and variable wattage battery. You don't have to learn all that stuff yet. Just get the battery and adjust to taste and you'll be pleased.

You can find the iTaste vv3 from online vendors here in the US between 30 to 50 dollars. They also have the ability to charge via micro USB so you can charge while vaping. That way, you don't need to always carry a spare if you will be near a phone charger or USB port.

Of course once you get one, you'll want two. But they are really fine batteries at a reasonable cost.
