That's exactly what my original 1.2 ohm coil would do. I never got popping or spitting with my .5 coil but I have read about it happening. There are so many variables that could cause pops/spits, but I'm sure my issue was the OE coil.

I get the same issue with my Kanger Subtank mini, except the popping only happens on the .5 OCC coil. I also tried the rba at .5 ohms and it's even worse. The 1.2 ohm coils don't have the popping issue, at least for me.

3mg, 70% VG or better will solve most of your issues

lastly, and this is strictly my opinion, if you bought an ST Mini looking for a mellow, Kayfunesque vape, you bought the wrong tank. This tank at .5 ohm or lower needs lots of airflow and 20-30w to make it sing. Opening it up all the way and increasing the power to 20w or more improves the vape on this. It may not be for you. I feel this is a watershed product that delivers rda performance with no fiddling or trial and error on the user's part. It changed the way I vape, and the two coworkers of mine that purchased this tank because of my praise for it have had a similar experience and love theirs.

So while lung hitting this tank at 25w with 3mg 70%VG juice is not the only way you can use this product, I feel it's what it was meant for and it excels at it. I'd much rather mouth to lung a Kayfun v4 or Aqua v2 than one of these, it's just not as good for that type of vaping. YMMV.

where did u get the tip, or do u know who makes them, was it a good fit

I got it at a B&M one county over when I was out. It fits, but has a little gap between the top of the subtank and the tip because of the notch for the gasket of the original tip. It will rattle a little bit if I shake my mod...but I don't normally shake my mod...and that didn't sound right, but whatever. lol

Hi Friends!

So, the old man and I just got our pretty new sub tanks in the mail today. Previously, he was using a Davide, and it was a nightmare. He literally went through coils every other day, so we ended up just rebuilding them so we could keep up. I was using an Aspire ET-S BVC and love it, but wanted more capacity, and the ability to switch out drip tips. So, we decided to upgrade.

Problem is... It's just not really working well. He can't use the 0.5oHm coils because no matter what wattage he sets his battery to, the vapor is way too harsh, and sends him into violent coughing fits. This will probably get better once we get some higher VG juice with lower nicotine. Probably an easy fix, I hope.

Mine, on the other hand, is so frigging loud, I can't stand to use it! It makes an extremely loud popping sound, and after the loud POP!, it is very crackly and whistles. When it pops, it spits juice into my mouth. It says to use the 1.2oHm coil between 12-25W, but I can only use it between 8.7-14.1W. The higher I crank my wattage, the more it spits, and after 14.1w, the vapor goes from warm to blazing hot and suffocating!

I really don't think I have a faulty unit, but I can't figure out the problem. Somebody brought it up on Reddit, but the only advice was to try the 1.2oHm coil, and turn down the wattage. I already keep it very low, and am using the 1.2oHm coil. It pops and crackles regardless of airflow setting. When I say it pops, I mean you can hear it from two rooms away. What do you more experienced users think the issue could be? I like the flavor and vapor production, so I don't want to buy another tank, or revert back to my little tank. I want to love this one.

Thank you you in advance. Happy Vaping!

I think you will love this tank. Unfortunately, Kanger, like everyone else these days, leaves the beta testing to us. Lucky for me, I find it kind of fun.

Are you using a sweet juice when you get the popping? Is the room that you are in high or low humidity.

The cause is NOT the Istick, it IS the tank design. I experienced the problem that you are having and have worked out a few different fixes but the one that works for you depends greatly on the answers to the two questions above.

I had it pop once an a piece of carbon flew out and burned the tip of my tounge!

PM me if I forget and don't get back to you.

I only got popping and spitting using my original 1.2 ohm coil. I used the same juice out of the same bottle (11mg, 80% PG/20% VG) and have had zero popping and spitting with a replacement 1.2 coil. I also never get any popping or spitting when I use the .5 ohm coil. If the issue shows up again, I will try a higher VG, lower nic like you mentioned but I still think my issue was the initial coil since I can't replicate the issue using the same juice with different coils.
