great links crx, for the sake of the post tho there is nothing lodged in the airholes. Even when leaving the holes exposed(not screwing the base all the way into the 510) still have the problem. I still prefer the design of the mini ego base(hides threads without a skirt). I dont generally re-buy a product that fails for a reason of which im unaware. So regetting the same base was out of the equation for me. I dont see the ego base having any issues in the future...but if it does happen a new video will be up haha!

Its the design of the base on the Protank. Its hard to explain how the air moves through the base, but if you make the holes bigger it does help.

I don't think many will do this, but if you're bored and a bailing wire type.

For the 3 small holes around the 510 connector. I opened them up with a #59 drill bit.

The connector base in the replaceable coil. The part that contacts the battery. I pulled it out and opened the hole up with a #50 drill bit.

With (3) #59 holes and (1) #50 hole, the same amount of air should be able to flow through. (3) #59 >/= (1) #50 in area. The air has to come in through the 3 small holes, then around the replaceable coil and up through the hole in the contact part of the replaceable coil. Once I opened up the 3 small holes the restriction is now where it has to flow around the base of the coil. I think adding a 4th hole would improve it, but I didn't want to do it because with 4 holes if I ever drop the thing it will probably snap off.

However, just doing the holes made it quite a bit better and now my coil doesn't clog anymore.

You added two holes to the connector on your battery...correct?

The issue I am having is if I screw my PT2 all the way into my Vamo 3, the PT2 holes get covered up and I have zero airflow!

To get this airflow, I have to put a large washer on the PT2 to creat a space or not tighten my PT2 all the way down. Both ways suck!

What if I drilled holes into the Vamo 3????

Might have been simpler to order a ProTank base for $2

Have confirmed there are some early production Protank 2 bases with machining issues. This seems to be a common theme with Kanger for the Past year now.

Everything looks good machining wise (my trade), unless they made the air holes too small?

I just looked at pictures and I think I have the Protank base, unless they look the same. I kinda bought a kit deal from my local tobacco shop. I'm still figuring out everything I got.

What do I need to purchase? I don't quite understand.

What I have been using is a simple Stainless Steel flat washer I got from Ace Hardware. It slips over the connector on my Vamo 3 and holds the PT2 up just high enough so the airflow holes are not covered.

You would need to purchase the Ego base
link is in the video description. >.<
