I've bee using the Kanger cartos for 6 months problem free. I'm always curious about different ways though. I think I want to try a smoke tech dual coil, but the price makes me nervous. I get about 2 weeks from 1 Kanger. How long does a dual coil typically last and does it smoke differently enough for the money?

Theoretically, a dual coil should last longer. The reason is that inside, there are two coils, each of them with twice the resistance of the whole carto. They are burning at a much lower wattage and temperature than if it was a single coil carto.

This theoretical advantage is also the reason I don't care for them in a PV that doesn't have 4 volts or more available.
A dual coil produces more vapor, but it's cooler vapor. If you have a 1.5ohm dual coil, you will get vapor similar to what you would get if you vaped two 3ohm cartomizers at the same time. Slightly warmer than that but, in effect, that's exactly what you are doing.

At 3.7 volts, a 1.5ohm single coil carto will use 9.12 watts. A 1.5ohm dual coil will have two 3ohm cartos, each using 4.56 watts. If you bumped the voltage up to 5V, then the dual coil would be burning at 8.3 watts per coil. That would be a great vape, but you'd also be drawing 3.3 amps, which is beyond the current rating of a lot of batteries and devices.

If you want something that gives you a significant improvement over a Kanger, try a good clearomizer. I suggest a Fluxomizer from Gotvapes. You don't have to top them off. There's no filler to burn and they don't leak or crack. There is also no filler to interfere with the taste and clearomizers are as clean tasting as you can get this side of dripping. The cost a few dollars more than cartomizers, but they last 3 or 4 times longer and you don't have to use a new one every time you change flavors. So they're more economical too.

I have never been a fan of clearomizers, I'm sure newer versions are better now, but they were always more fragile. For a while I was using 1.25ohm dual coil xl cartos exclusively. I still do actually, although I've just switched to being primarily a dripper. hoosierecigsupply.com has the xl dcc, thats where I get mine. Prices are great, shipping is fast, and he has a bunch of different resistance options. I used mine on egos and 3.7v 18650 mods, and the 1.25 xls were beast! Just make sure to get black or stainless, just my suggestion. Again, I was never a fan of clearos. They're 1.79 ea, and cheaper the more you buy.
