Well my Kanger Protank came in today and I couldn't just be satisfied with how well it was working. I had to mess with it. Lately I've been a big fan of the heat treated XC-116 ceramic wick from SnG. So I cracked it open and rebuilt the head with it along with some 30g Kanthal. The results are very, very nice. Big thick clouds and excellent flavor. Here's what I did.
First I took apart the head. Using a file I filed the wick channel so it comfortably fit the thicker wick. Wrapped the kathal 4 times and out it back together like usual. Then I threw it on my eVic to check the Ohms. You can't tell very well in the pic but it's 1.3. Filled it with some 100% VG and threw it on the Provari. Very tasty indeed.

XC-116 Ceramic Wick is completely out of stock... anyways I thought a ceramic wick would be stiff and not flexible?? From the videos I have seen on RBA's. This has to be a much better material then what is currently being used in almost all atomizers. Do you know anyone or company that I could pay to do this for me? I will have 3 protanks tomorrow and they come with 2 extra heads in each kit. So 6 total rebuilds. I would prefer them to be around 1.8 ohm. I have been looking for ceramic wick atomizers for long time. Awesome job though!

I just did my first rebuild ever on a evod head for my protank with this xc-116 wick and it was a piece of cake. I used 32 gauge kanthal with 5 wraps and got 2.1 ohms. If you want to buy some I suggest you sign up for e-mail notification on the SNG site. The first time I got the e-mail that it was in stock I waited 5 minutes and it was gone. The second time I ordered in time but it was out of stock in about 20 minutes so you have to be quick on the draw like the horse named mcgraw from the cartoon BOOM shlock lock BOOM, ALRIGHT YA, BOOM schlock lock BOOM, EVERYBODY, BOOM schlock lock BOOM.

I'm ridiculously in love with this damn Protank. I keep trying to find something wrong with it...or make it malfunction. Even Schlepprock could make this thing vape.

It's almost there...
1. A better seal between the glass and metal... it uses glue or epoxy of some sort (But at least we are getting there)
2. It tends to flood when the left alone for a while, also when the tank gets low. (Vacuum pressure)
3. A better head using SS mesh or ceramic that doesn't leak when sitting in e-liquid.
Done! A glass RBA that doesn't leak... (Well not anymore than any other clearomizer)
4. Once this done use a replaceable mouth / top cap.... (Like the bottom) and you use your favorite drip tip. Think Viva Nova, but glass and bottom coil.
5. All materials SS
6. Food grade o-rings
This = the death of all RBA’s, and I can change my flavors all day long.
Number 3 is the GAME CHANGER!
And yes I am working on this with many people as we speak….

Only thing I might add to that list, vision83: Adjustable draw. Perhaps some sort of ring around the base of the unit that you can turn to selectively block off or open up additional airflow channels for flush-mounting devices. I'm glad that Kanger included those two channels (so I can actually torque it all the way down on my Provari), but the design has still left me feeling that there is room for improvement in that area. It's easily enough modified to taste for those of us who like to tweak our kit, but any new topper is going to thrive or die based on how user-friendly it is for new vapers.

I like the concept of different heads to adjust draw, but again, more choices is liable to create more confusion. One person's tight draw may be a little too airy for another. Not to mention that the Chinese companies that mass produce these heads would probably not be too keen on mass producing multiple types at each resistance they offer. The concept is sound, but I don't think it would fly in the marketplace.

Adjustable by connection, agreed! Make it happen on an inexpensive clearo and I'll throw all of my money at you. :D
