You can make coils/wicks for all of the clearomizers with replaceable heads. Two problems though. Tiny space to work with, and you need two kinds of wire in there. The resistance wire for the coil and non-resistance wire for the "legs". If you just used the wire that gets hot, it would burn the silicone grommet that separates the neg and pos wire on the bottom of the head. There's not enough room to just twist the wires together though.

If you know nothing about soldering or electronics (like me when I found that thread), it might be faster to find someone who can make it for you. Or, learning a new skill is never a bad thing.

Either way, try out the cotton on the protank first to see how you like it. You'll probably love it, and you can easily keep replacing the wick until you either figure out the welder thing or just continue buying replacement heads and switch out the wick. Hope this helps some!

I've used Kanthal D only, for rebuilding my Vivi Nova coils, and I have yet to come across a burnt rubber grommet on any of my rebuilds. I'm not saying it's not happening, I'm just saying that you can indeed rebuild coils without the use of non-resistance wire, doubling up the legs etc.
Might happen if you crank it up too high, but for me, I rarely go past 4-4.2 Volts on the Novas, with a 2.2-2.4 Ohm coil.
Again, not trying to flame or anything, just saying that it can be done, without burning rubber

Hey your point is just as valid as mine. I think my biggest issue is just not knowing the specs for the material and so many variables.

For instance, you don't have any problems with only Kanthal, and I had a CE5 that had NR wire from the factory and it STILL burned the grommet (with ego type battery).

I'm 100% sure some are better quality than others. It wouldn't shock me if some were made from junk car tires.

Yeah, quality control and going green - not gonna happen.
When I got my Protank, I started out by removing excess glue from the outside of the glass tank - and this is something that's considered a "premium" item. A user on another forum, said that when he took a q-tip (isn't that what you call the the things you clean your ears with?) to the tube in his Protank, after the initial cleaning, before first use, he found little pieces of metal on the q-tip afterwards. Those would've been nice to inhale

Yeah I noticed the glue as well. Got me wondering what kind it is. I think superglue (CA). That's crazy about the metal flakes! They don't have an air compressor or even a stick to clean them out with? I love the Protank and Kanger, but geeze QC in China is ridiculous.

Just to follow up. After a week with the Protank the flavor is nowhere near as strong as a vivi nova with a week on it. I did remove a wick to clean up the burny flavor and that worked. I also get some flooding when the tank is about 1/4 full and when going from Cold air to hot outside (pressure from the air in the tank?). I still really like it and will use it a lot because it handles my Ecto cooler without having to worry about plastics. It also looks really nice on my eGo batts. I ordered a second one and 5 more heads.

Oh my bad, I guess the answer you were looking for is "yes they can be rebuilt". I was assuming you hadn't done it before. You know what they say about assuming.

I guess you can just recoil with Kanthal and double up the legs, but that tiny space is a PITA to work with. They do come with NR wire for a reason though. I not quitting smoking so I can smoke burning rubber and inhale microscopic shards of glass 200 times a day, but that's me. If you're able to recoil with no issues, more power to ya!

I understand man, I didnt mean to come off as an ... or anything, I was genuinely curious if there was a difference. I havent received my protank yet, but I am excited for its arrival. I just like the convenience of being able to rebuild my Mini nova heads, so I just wanted to know about doing so on these...

Add me to the group that finds that the EVOD head greatly improves the ProTank performance. Better draw, better flavor, no rattlesnake sound, still no leaking.

All because of a slightly shorter center post? Odd.

I have had ZERO issues w/ leaking at 80/20. But I do have issues w/ just suddenly DOA heads, and 1 tank today that had been sitting for several days and suddenly tasted "burnt", and when I replaced the head noticed the tips of the wick appeared somewhat "blackkened" ( a clear peppermint juice). Plz exlain your version of proper cleaning and "dry-burning" maint to me. TIA

Remove base from tank.
Rinse with warm water.
Remove center post and flavor wicks.
Screw back onto device.
Pulse in 5-10 second bursts until wicks are white.
Put back together.
Vape.
Smile.
