I replaced the coil on a kayfun Lite Plus Clone for the first time this morning using 28g kanthal, 10 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit. Easy! And fun. That went well, but the Kanger isn't going as smooth. I watched a video on wrapping around silica wick, which I tried and failed miserably. Then I saw a guy wrapping around a syringe, which I did and is much easier. But he wrapped 12 times. No matter how tight I get the coil, it won't fit without touching the coil housing. That will cause a short, right? Will 8-10 wraps with the 28g work? I'll be using cotton wick. Very new to this! Thanks.

Maybe you can make it go that low, maybe not. The optimum for ProVari seems to be 1.2 Ohm.

I would try a thinner wire or a larger inner diameter if I were you.

In a PT2 the 5/64 is a bit large IME, so maybe try 9-10 wraps with 30 awg around something slightly thinner?

Well, for Protank coils I don't go for micro-coils. I look for something that functions well on a standard ego or VV battery like a twist, since it's usually being used at work or on the go. I use a 1/16 drill bit which fits perfectly into the slots on the Kanger head while I'm placing the coil and insulator. I usually do a 5/4 wrap of 32ga Kanthal and a cotton wick. Check out this thread, it works beautifully:

With a real rebuildable you have the room to use bigger wire instead of hiring Santa's little elves for you to wrap a tiny protank coil

But if you're going to do a Kanger coil, you'll want thinner wire to fit in that tiny space.

Yes you will likely get shorts.
Even if it doesn't short out one moment, it will likely short out the next especially with some knocking around.
