Dang! I literally just order a protank a few minutes ago. Now I find out the Protank 2 is coming out

I know the feeling, pal. Six months after I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III, they released the S IV. Ahh, the march of progress never stops, does it?

The PT2 is supposed to address the occasional problem caused by physical abuse. Namely, dropping the PT while attached to an eGo batt and it and having the threads break off at the base of the tank battery connection.

Not correct - base is almost identical and interchanges with original. 510 Threading extrusion has specific fit which cannot be changed with current wick design.
Difference is in construction:
to allow for seals rather than glue.
Easy cleaning - fully disassemble
Use of personal choice in Drip tip
Larger capacity

I also received the email, and it specifically said "stronger base." I know there are some other features in the PT2, but there was a design flaw in the original PT that caused some people to swear them off completely after losing them to broken bases after a fall. Eric Gormley at discountvapors said exactly the same thing about the PT, and apologizes that he can't warranty the PT because of it.

Looks awesome... I cant wait to try it...the base broke on my first protank...didnt stop me from getting another one...

I edited my post above. I erroneously thought that the PT was breaking off at the battery connection. After further review, it appears that the base itself is breaking, not the threading at the battery connection.

Think I'll pick one of these up, the ability to use my own drip tip seals the deal :) Haven't had any problems with my Protank. Also being able to fully disassemble will make cleaning alot easier than the original Protank.

Agreed, but I wonder how long the O-rings will hold up after repeated disassembly, cleaning and reassembly.

Think that's a fair question. Hopefully my guess will be as fair. I'm guessing that like most of the devices we're using it will depend greatly on the individual that's performing the maintenance. If you over tighten fittings with o rings or similar type washers you run the risk of compromising their integrity (ability to create a watertight seal).

We see the same thing here on the forum almost daily with users over tightening delivery devices and end up pushing the battery center pin down too far to make contact on the next use or different delivery device.

So like daddy always said, "Tight's tight" ;)
