Can you explain your process of doing this, in case I ever need to when they are OOS...I have some extra 510 carts, how do you go about removing and connecting the threading?

He's soldering them I believe, hence the extra 1-2mm of distance in added materials. Definitely a good solution, and if you have a saw and a soldering iron at home you could do it yourself if you're feeling handy.

Thats what I assumed but...I hope he is using lead-free solder and a clean soldering iron...Not sure that you want to be inhaling from airholes directly next to lead solder on a warm/hot atomizer.

ok, would tak a long time to explain the process, basically remove whats left of the old 510 cut a new one line it up and that is the skill part, cut the base off an old carto and solder it to the protank, yes, led free solder no iron I use hot air to solder since most of the TV's I repair are bga mounted and mostly surface mount components. as far as leaded solder if you get it hot enough to flow then the joint would fail. that is the danger point unless it flows there is no danger.you are probally in more danger with the electronics in your home than the lead in a good solder joint on the protank would yield.

Ah nice thanks for explaining this. I've never heard of soldering with hot air before today, very interesting.

Awesome thanks! I ordered the protank not knowing about this base issue, and every other website I have checked is OOS. They cose about $1 more than discount vapers and shipping is $4...but use promo code ECF on that website for 10% discount.

Sorry I just realized that's why he deleted his post. Still glad he linked it here by accident as I stumbled upon it right when I needed it!
I apologize for sounding so mean Greensticky. I just noticed your join date and you probably didn't realize that each vendor that has a sub forum here on ECF has to pay for being here. It's just a respect thing not to advertise another business without permission from DV to do so.

In the 'General' forum threads, it's fine :)

Do you know if Kanger is addressing the issue with these bases?

I have not heard of any changes sadly...I wish they would I get slammed when I put the bases online and it's not exactly a profit item, lots of time goes into just that one item.

when do the new protank bases arrive? I broke mine and need one asap :(

I should have some online tonight sometime, I have my sons graduation to go to so not sure exactly when.

Congrats on the sons Graduation. It would be nice if they addressed the issue. For me and I'm sure many others it's the only fault on an otherwise outstanding product.
