Hello i just got a Protank like 4 days ago and i am having some issues..

My first coil head was working fine, but then i decided i wanted to try and take a wink out like PBusardo did in his video so i did that and after i took it out , i really am not tasting anything good and no vapor really, i am using the MVP with 50/50 cinnamon roll...

So then i tried the 2nd coil and now with this one if i vape over 4v it tastes so burnt..

What should i do..i was having no problems with the first one at 4.7 before i took out the wink!

Now in his video its showing him removing the wicks now on the 2 he takes out it looks like coils are warrped around it or is that just burnted in the middle? Because the 2 i removed where just plain white with jucie soaked in them...

Not sure I can help you too much, erik419, but this will bump your thread up so maybe more people will see it and be able to answer.

I don't use a VV device with my protank, but I have removed a wick. There will be 2 or 3 wicks. The bottom one is the "coil wick," with the thin wire coil wrapped around it. This has to stay, as it's what produces the vapor. The top one or two are the "flavor wicks." These are what PBusardo removed in his video, as he was vaping, I believe, a 100% VG juice which is quite thick. You could remove one or both of the flavor wicks but not the coil wick, depending on your preference and what juice you're vaping.

Hopefully others will chime in about the VV issue. Hope this helps a little bit! :vapor:

1. If it was working "fine" why change it? Not a snarky question, just wondering the motivation. I have had so much problems with my Pro Tank just working that I am thrilled to have finally found a set up that works! My vv and an air flow regulator have done it for me.

2. If 4.7 is too high, why not just reduce the volts and not worry about it? I know that my volts change from day to day for no apparent reason. Today my PT is great at 4.0 but yesterday it was wonderful at 3.7. I just adjust and vape happy. Am I missing something I should be concerned about?

3. The reason I got a PT was for corrosive liquids that kill polycarbonate tanks. Finally got my absinthe from vaporleaf now that my PT is working for me. I am in love. I am vaping and vaping and tasting and vaping and well, did I mention vaping? I add it to some tobacco base since I was afraid it might be too strong for me alone. When this tank is finished I will do straight absinthe. I might self destruct from joy. Oh, BTW, I like black licorice candy too!

Your first coil may have shorted out or possibly broke in the process of removing a wick. Or maybe it was loose and no longer making good contact with the battery. Those are the only reasons I can think of that it would stop working.

Your second coil was probably not the same resistance as your first coil. The protanks I have came with 2 coils each and they are different ohms. If you swap a coil out for one with lower ohms and don't adjust the battery power down, it will most like taste burnt. And 4.7 volts sounds high to me anyway. I rebuild my Protank coils at about 2 ohms and they work great at about 3.8 volts. If I went to 4.7 it would be toast. You would need pretty high resistance to run at 4.7. There is a formula to figure that out but I don't remember it ATM.

The protank atomizer heads should have the resistance (ohms) printed on the side. As a member already responded, the PT comes with atty's of different resistance. It sounds to me as if you are using a lower resistance head.

As for the flavor wicks, I opened mine up and took 1 of the 2 that was sitting on top out. I found that to be optimal. I am using a 20PG/80VG blend so it's a bit on the thick side. You can experiment with removing/replacing the 2 flavor wicks and see what tastes/works best for you.

The atty I have in my PT at the moment is 2.5 ohms (I think). It Vapes beautifully at just around 4 volts. If I crank my twist up to 4.8 I definitely get a slightly burnt taste. YMMV.
