I really liked my Protank when I first got it, it worked way better the the cheap POS cartomizer tank I originally bought.

After using my Chimbus [Nimbus clone: I drilled a second air hole and made the original larger too], and now that I have my RSST rba [Also enlarged the air hole] I think the draw is WAY too tight on the Protank, I literally get light headed when I use it from just trying to draw out some vape.

Maybe I got used to the draw on my other setups [most of my friends prefer to use my Protank, the RSST and Chimbus makes them cough like they took a .... rip]. The point is the Protank has been set aside, early retirement. I am thinking about trying to modify it.

So, finally, here is the question.

Do the holes on the sides of the 510 connector affect the draw along with the hole on the bottom of the + terminal?

I am thinking about enlarging them to increase the air draw. THOUGHTS?

The majority of your airflow is coming from the holes above the threads on the Protank. If you have a drill bit small enough to make the air flow holes larger, you could probably maximize air flow, but you literally have zero room for error. If your bit is too large, you'll hit the threads and it may not thread properly afterwards.

If drilling the air flow holes on the sides doesn't work for you, you could deepen the notches on the mod itself, but I'd be careful. Personally I remove 1-2 of the "flavor" wicks and that seems to increase the air flow for me. I use a 60/40 blend of my own and I've not had any leaking since I starting using my own liquids over those I bought locally.

Just a heads up, enlarging the holes on the PT's 510 connector will likely weaken it further.

They already have a tendency to snap bases if they fall and land awkwardly while on a mod.

Indeed. That's why I'd be extremely careful about drilling and make sure the drill bit is just barely larger than the existing hole. You could, of course, also drill extra holes. So if you have a hole at the 6 & 12:00 mark, drill one on the 3 & 9:00. That may work better than enlarging the existing ones (and a bit easier).

Thankfully, the replacement bases are pretty cheap.

OK. So I didn't have a drill bit small enough but I did have a tiny carbide bit.

I enlarged all 3 tiny holes on the 510. I also slightly notched the bottom flat part of the 510 that would sit flat and slightly deepened the notches on the mod.

All in all it made some difference. Not too much but the main difference is now I can tighten the tank all the way down and get a better draw rather than having it loose to get a mediocre draw.

I think I am just going to keep the protank to be used when letting new friends try. I'll probably pick up another rsst rba and another dripping Atty. I have personally grown to like an easier draw.

Thanks guys

Post pics if you can. I am interested in seeing how this looks/works. My protank is my pocket atty and would love it to hit more.

Ok give me a little and ill take pictures of it, it doesn't look too pretty, it was late, I was tired and didnt use a vice just my hands so the dremel skipped around a little.

So hows the air flow now?

Slightly better. The main advantage is I can now tighten the tank and have a sonewhat decent draw rather than have it loose to increase the draw.

I am planning on selling / giving away the protank. Not my style of vape I guess.
