Kanger protank mini 2 - gunked up coils?

Soo, i have a kanger protank mini 2 on a 1300MAh vision Spinner battery. I am vaping a Spearmint juice from The Vape Mall, its 12mg nic strength and 50/50 PG/VG.
I just put a brand new 2.2 ohm coil in my tank yesterday when i got my spearmint.
Today, i'm happily vaping along, really loving this juice, when all of the sudden i get no throat hit, the vape felt warm and it tasted sorta rubbery.

So i checked the connection and threads, wiped them off, tried again with the same warm vape, little vapor bit its warm, and same rubbery taste.
I switched coils to one of the 2.5 ohm coils that came with my protank... could i have gunked up the coil on the 2.2ohm thing already?! I just put it in yesterday afternoon....


Edit to add - since switching, i am back to the normal minty taste with cool vapor.

How much do you vape? I wouldn't think that spearmint juice would gunk up coils that quickly. Is is really thick and sweet?

You can take the top chimmey piece off the head and look at the coil closer to see if it's gunked up. If so, dry burning would clean it up some. I use some juice that is terrible on coils. I have to dry burn/rebuild/replace them daily. Protank coils can be rebuilt so that's something you can look into if you like. It saves a bit of money if you have to replace them that often.

I couldnt figure out how to get it to come apart? Do you happen to know any video tutorials about it? Maybe Pbusardo has one.
The juice doesnt seem thick, but it does taste exactly like the spearamint gum... uhmmm Double Mint or something like that

what's the voltage you have it set to?

may be too hot(high voltage) and burning the juice.

I was on a 2.2 ohm coil with 3.3 volts

up the voltage..try 3.8v.

was thinking you burning the juice and gunking up the coils. but now knowing you only pushing 3.3v.. not enough to create vapor with 2.2ohms.

Rubbery taste sounds like you burned the rubber grommet. Google "rebuild kanger coils" and any of them will show you how to pull the bottom pin out and then the grommet. I'm on mobile or I'd link you.

What voltage were you using?

In my mini i'll tear it all down, wash it all out, dry burn it and then im good to go

There's lots of You Tube videos. Here's one: The Kanger Mini Protank, Protank II and Cleaning Replacement Heads - YouTube Probably can skip to about 12 minutes. If you google for dry burn Protank heads you'll get a bunch of them. Then you might want to look into rebuilding them too.

Doesn't seem like you should have a gunked up coil yet. Maybe upping the voltage a bit will help. Or it could be a bad head. The burning rubber is seems weird.

I should add that if it is a burned grommet, you'll very easily see scorch marks on it when you get it out.

I'm in bed at the moment, so i'll look into it tomorrow.

But i dont think the issue was too low of voltage because i had been vaping all day at 3.3 and was getting great taste, good throat hit, and decent vapor production.
