Are you talking about the wick cover/tube gasket? (right above the bottom of coil and surrounding the pipe?) if so, yeah.. you need that in there, you also have to be careful how are you tighten it. That gasket covers the wicks, and if it's too tight it will restrict flow to the wick. It will take a few minutes for the fill to wick in where it's supposed to, and if you go too soon you will get dry hits.

I've not had one to leak yet as long as I didn't mess with it ( the coil assy or rubber seal).

I just rebuilt one tonight (first attempt) and it sure vaped great....until it started gurgling (leaking). I went back in and checked everything, but to no avail. I'm sure it is one of the seals and most likely the one that you had taken off.

I tried the PBusardo trick of removing a wick and it caused major flooding. After putting a new head in and not tinkering with it I had no issues.

When I first started using tanks years ago my first instinct was to want to remove the rubber stopper from the atomizer (you obviously don't want to superheat and burn rubber after all!). The guys at the vape shop had a laugh at my expense, but at least they told me to put it back on before I juiced all over myself!

We all have our moments:)

The first time I used a carto tank (the orings were REALLY loose on my F17 from the factory). I went to take it off my battery and was unscrewing and unscrewing forever and it didn't come off. SO I gave it a little tug and pulled the tank right off the carto. Yep I was turning the TANK not the carto.
