Been starting to recoil the heads as I don't much like the silica taste but it seems like the last bunch has an odd taste to it. Tried various different wicking materials such as cotton balls and various yarns that the women has in her crafts but they all seem to have the same odd taste to them.

Was wondering if there was more that had to be done for the prep besides just boiling the cotton before use.

I've used cotton pads (make-up remover type) that worked really well and I've also used Peaches and Cream #4 yarn from Wal-Mart that worked really well. The trick to making the yarn work well was seperate the 4 pieces of yarn before you wick it. That helped tremendously.

And to boil it in water for about 30 minutes ;)

Be sure to dryburn the coil(if you haven't been) before you wick it.
I found the oil on the coil to linger a long time.
For me the coils last far longer than the wicks so I just rewick every week or two.YMMV.

Oromocto eh? Caught me a nice big Bass behind the shopping center by the boat docks a few years back.
Nice place! Welcome to ecf Zoodles.

Good Advice There, I Always Dryburn First If I Am Just Replacing The Wick.
