Kanger ProTank Replacement Heads

Hey just curious if anyone that has used the Kanger ProTank has had to replace their Wicks a lot more often than most tanks.

I am in my 3rd week of vaping, and I am still using the same heads for my iClears. However, I have already had two of the heads go out on my ProTank. They just stop working. I have been keeping them clean, soaking in vodka and dry burning so they iClears are still in good shape.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong with the ProTank heads, should I not be cleaning them as much?

might just be a quality control issue from kanger. I don't even use the factory heads. I bought replacements and while I was at it I bought evod heads, and immediately pulled the coils and wick out and replaced them with my own. never had a problem since.

Get wick and wire and rebuild it yourself. Super easy and fun, you'll find lots of videos on youtube.

I had nothing but issues with factory heads, most of the time the coils were all bunched up or wonky. Found that the silica was giving me a weird taste and when I came across a thread that talked about rewicking with cotton and gave it a shot. Taste is much better and I control my own quality, now I only buy heads for replacement parts

For me everything I use ends up being an RBA. Factory coils and wicks never work well in my experience. When I got spare soils for my evods it almost felt wrong ripping apart 10 brand new heads.

You may be dry burning them too much. A dry burn is rough on the resistance wire and you could be wearing it out prematurely.

exactly why I buy them for. The heads themselves will last forever the grommets and o rings are what I feel will go first.

one could, but cotton is $1.99 for a bag at walgreens and taste much better.

They were the two heads that came with the tank, so I assume they were just cheaply made. I am going to venture into getting some wick and wire and try a crack at rebuilding, sounds like a much better use of my time and money... Hopefully keep me from hitting up every B&M in town and leaving with $100 less in my pocket each time.

just buy wire from ebay. 32g kantal. go to home depot and buy a .256 screw or if you want bigger coils a 4-40 screw and buy some 100% cotton balls from walgreens that is usually next door to homedepot. you will spend probably 10bucks tops and have enough supplies for the rest of the year.

hell yeah. well more unraveling. since you don't need much wick for the protanks and other BCCs yeah just unravel and roll it up into a wick.

cotton ball isn't as bad as ripping apart a flashlight from harborfreight, tearing off your battery connector and fulling with JB weld to make a mod. so cotton ball is minor to me. not much more than buying silica which I bought and didn't really like.

Just wanted to say that I rebuild my ProTanks and it's fairly easy. The first time I did it, it took me 20 minutes, but I can rebuild a head in 5 or less now. I keep going back and forth between butcher string and silica. The silica lasts longer but I like the flavor of the cotton string.

Anyway, always up to you, but I love having more control over my ohms and taste and material. Plus it really is dirt cheap. I can do it while I'm just sitting around, I keep all my materials and burned out heads waiting in a tupperware.

not really, I can recoil a protank (and a genesis for that matter) in 5 to 10 min that includes cleaning up all my supplies when I'm done.

fyi the two new heads i got today that are LR are working WAY better then the ones that came with the protank. still had to remove a 1 wick but no burnt taste much better flavor and finally some TH. so i am happy now. i knew it was a quality control issue. so if your having problems with the heads, its most likely poorly built heads.

hey if it works i shall try you can bet on that. tinkering with these things is what has kept me going on pv's
