So it seems that my new coils will only last about 3 to 4 days before I start to get really burnt tasting vapor. Also it starts slow. So like I'll take an inhale and I'll get a hint of burnt tasting vapor and then it just continues to get worse. I vape around 24watts on this tank, found that to be my sweet spot. I always prime new coil before I vape. Also I start low like 15w and gradually go up till I'm in my 24w spot. I haven't changed juice, vg/pg ratio or nic content everything is the same. Could it be the cold causing the vg to congeal and it not wicking properly? Please any help will be great I can not continue to change my coil every 4 days.

1: Your new coils will only last about 3 to 4 days.
Well long did your old coils last?

2: it just continues to get worse
Once some burnt gunk develops on the coil, it will continue to taste burnt till the burnt stuff burns off.

3: You vape around 24 watts on this tank.
So what wattage did you vape on the other tank.

4: Could it be the cold causing the vg to congeal and it not wicking properly?
Sounds reasonable; but it wouldn't happen only with 1 tank, and wouldn't only start happening after 3 or 4 days.

5: You do not need to change coils every 4 days; you just need to dryburn and rewick, and that coil will probably last months.

6: How long a coil lasts before you need to rewick depends on how much millilitres run through it (and the size of the coil);
at higher wattages, you run through more millilitres per day.

Just curious - are you using the sub ohm coils or the 1.2 ohm?

Reason I'm asking is that when I use the .5 ohm coils I set my wattage MUCH lower. I know it's a personal taste thing but I'm satisfied vaping at 10 watts on my genuine DNA 30 device. My coils last much longer than 4 days. And when they do start to taste burnt, I rewick them (with the original coil) and keep going. Probably not what you want to hear but at 24 watts, if that is your only tank/device I'm surprised you get 4 days.

I would echo what edyle said: remove the cotton, dry burn, rinse, and rewick.

^^^ That would be my first question as well. I really don't think the .5 ohm coils are built to handle 24 watts.

The cold wouldn't have anything to do with this. You have to put VG in the freezer for maybe a couple days before you start to see it slow down and thicken. Transient exposure to outdoor temps isn't gonna do it.

I'm also wondering what flavors you are vaping. Highly sweet flavors will crud up coils - any coils - really fast.

I am using the .5 coils. My coils used to last a week maybe week and a half. But the last 3 were only 4 days. I use clear juice. Not overly sweet slight fruit flavors with menthol is all I vape. And this is my only tank. I currently have. Usually I go through roughly about 6 to 8mls of juice in 24 hours.

Is that the 0.5 ohm coils that "used to last a week maybe week and a half" or the other coils?

Maybe you are just vaping more.
Or your tastebuds have improved.

I haven't been able to use the standard OCC coils at more than like 15watts.. I ordered the Nickel coils for the DNA 40 so they'll last awhile.

21 watts is about the best I can do on the .5 OCC coils before they burn. The first few OCCs I received in December were able to handle 25 with no problem, so it was a bit of a shock to me when other newly purchased coils (January) began to burn up at that setting.

No biggie, though. I just vape them at 21 watts and when they get used up a week later I toss them out.

.
not my experience.
cold will affect fluidity of vg qand probably pg.
in a cold car, its winter were i am, i have to take primer pulls b4 vaping, once interior car warms it performs better.
i diy my juice at between 60vg/40pg to 70vg/30pg, i mix in a beaker then pour it into bottles w/small openings but b4 doing that i warm up the beaker w/the juice still in it so it makes it easier to pour into my bottles, warming it up makes for a thinner less gel like juice

Yeah, it really is a low power coil/tank. So many people coming over from Atlantis tanks say what's wrong, I can't vape this subtank like I am used to.
Just turn it down a bit, no need of running high watts.

I've noticed a burnt taste with my 0.5 ohm coil.
Usually it happens when I chain vape too fast or when I use higher wattage. It could also be the juice I'm using.
I'm currently vaping at 14.5 watts. The coils used to taste better at around ~20 watts when new.
I'm vaping Zeus Juice Medusa. Maybe that gunks the coils too fast?

At the moment i can't chain vape with my 0.5ohm stock coil on 25watts. The best remedy that i've found at the moment is to prime after each lung hit. (what i mean with prime: i block the airflow and suck on that thing without firing it) Whenever i do that i can see a bubble coming out of the coil.
This seems to help for not getting a dry hit.

Also what i read is before you insert your new coil is to push the cotton with a toothpick, which makes it easier for the liquid to wick it all. They say (the internet) that the kangertech people stuffed the coil with to much cotton and thus blocking the liquid for wetting the wick I haven't tested this yet, i'll do that later today with a 1.2ohm (still from the original box)

Please note, that i'm a beginner vaper dude and i'm just experimenting.

edit:
The 0.5 coil, is my first coil with kanger tank. It is a reasonable thought, that it might be just this coil. I simply dont know (yet) ;)

I just bought the Kanger subox nano, and I was having the same problem. I have found that once I started taking longer and harder pulls, the burnt taste disappeared. I think the ejuice is pulled through the coil faster, and not sitting in your coil burning. Working great for me now. Hope you find the solution you need . Peace
