Sub Ohm so been using Delta ll which I love but it has flaws. 1) Whistles but 2) it drinks a ton of juice 3) price by comparison

So, happened to be given a Kanger SubTank Mini..

Set it up .8ohms vaping at about 17 so thats fine..

BUT I keep getting dry hit's here and there and that does not happen on the Delta ll tank.
I was told to turn the bottom, of the glass 1/2-1/2 a turn so it would release pressure in the tank, that I would see bubbles and it would be fine as that apparently resoaks the wick.

Tried it.
Not so sure that works well but still experimenting.
REALLY HATE these dry hits.

I've heard some people say that they need to drill the "holes" out on the subtank mini.
Not sure of the terminology but on the Delta ll tank, there is a slightly larger "juice line" for the juice to flow than the subtank mini.

IS this why the dry hits happen occasionally?
Because the juice flow line is not as good, perhaps as the Delta ll?
Although I would not want to do this IF it meant that the juice would flow as much as the Delta does....althoguh of course this could also explain why it never happens on the Delta? ( if so, i havent yet found the perfect tank )

So.....new to rebuilding. When this happens and you get a dry hit, are you supposed to re-wick?
Does one dry hit mean that the cotton has a permanent burned taste?
Or will releaseing the pressure which I'm told resoaks the wick/cotton get rid of that burned taste?

I am hoping that resoaking it will be enough as i think that the dry hits happen enough i'd have to rewick every few hours if so....? Which would kill my liking of the tank if so

Are you vaping the RBA? You probably aren't wicking it right. I can chainvape max VG at 30+ watts on my 2 mini RBA's. Watch this guys build video it'll solve your issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6awmLa3xhGM

I do 5 wraps of 26ga around a 2.5 mm bit. Pulled tight it ohms out to .65 everytime. Slightly larger diamater than stock which allows me stuff a bit more cotton in there. Once you nail it, you'll have a feel for EXACTLY how much cotton you need to use.

As far as rewicking, it depends on how badly you burn it. If you just get the start of a burnt hit with muted flavor, you'll probably decrease the life of the overall build by a bit, but the taste can sometimes pretty much go away. If you get a full on dry hit, the cotton gets scorched, and depending on how bad it gets, you can even taint the whole tank of juice. Once you get your wick sorted out you'll be fine.

It's a wicking issue. I've only had mine for about a week, never built before, and I have mine hitting like a champ (better than the pre-builts) already.

But my first couple builds I had the problem of burnt hits... I was not wicking correctly. You don't need to drill out the juice channels, they work fine. If anything, every now and then, if you're really chain vaping, you MIGHT have to turn the airflow control to blocked and suck to draw the juice into the wick... but if you need to do that often then you're wicking is off.

Make sure you are only gently rolling the majority of the cotton (if at all -- and I think that only rolling in one direction helps) and cutting off the tip that you roll tightly to get through the coil... Also make sure that the juice channels are completely clear (I've found that pushing the ends of the wick up into a little wall against the sides of the posts works pretty well). There's plenty of videos on builds and a whole thread with pictures of people's builds here.

There's nothing wrong with the tank or RBA base and you aren't supposed to be getting dry hits.
