There have been a few responses to this in the Subtank threads.
This is most likely a wicking issue. Either too much or too little. It took me quite a bit to figure out how much to put in. If you are using the KGD cotton I use 1/3rd the size of my thumbnail and take off the top and bottom matting before putting it into the coil. It will be tight so twist it as it goes in. Run it back and forth to straighten out the twist and use the "pancake method" to set the cotton. Cut it to where the cotton will just barely touch the deck, then take juice and flatten it both up and down to make a pancake with the center of it being at the coil.
Once I started doing this, I got rid of the dry hit and most of the popping from the coil.

How does the liquid get to the semi circle of cotton above the coil, unless you prime it and wait several seconds between vapes.
My juice sure did not.
Not the first rip wicking I've used that didn't work long term.

For the subtank mini rba - I put the KGD (removed the two outer layers of the pad) through the coil ( snug) then put the chamber on and pull the wick ends up and cut them about half an inch above the chamber. Then with each end fold it over the chamber and gently pull it back and tuck it down into the chamber so the bottom of the wick ends will then be touching the deck.
Then juice it up and get something thin and go between the wick and the inside of the chamber and gently pull the wick away from the sides of the chamber.

After trying a few ways on the subtank rba and getting no where this way was good for me and I've stuck with it.
Haven't done pancake style on the subtank but tried five times on a lemo and dry hits after two minutes.

When refilling make sure you close the airhole before reassembling the tank, the air pressure when you screw the tank back together could force juice into the air chamber if the airflow is left open. Also make sure you don't overfill the tank leave a little space between the top of the steel tube so it doesn't overflow when you re-assemble.

Hi, I have having issues with the kanger subtank mini sucking hot juice into my mouth with the rba deck it doesn't happen with the occ coils please help....
Had the same problem with my rba deck when I first used it. Leaking out of the airflow holes, (open up airflow fully open and blow through one side, If liquid comes out the other side you have flooding issues), spitting popping and liquid vape in mouth. I bought the thing for its rebuildable feature and knew I couldn't vape like this. Tried longer drip trip. It helped but didn't fix the root problem. Then after reading in these forums all afternoon I noticed a recurring trend. Seems like most issues are solved by rewicking, because these things are temperamental with their wicks. Opened the coil and discovered cotton directly over the coil, causing extra draw resistance and flooding into the airflow chamber. My suggestion to anyone is if you are having problems with ur subtank mini rewick, rewick, REWICK! Oh BTW my subtank hits beautifully now, no spitting no leaking no more hard draw resistance, hard to think I was so disgusted with it just hours ago...
