Kanger Subtank VS Aerotank MOW Mega - Upgrade?

I recently upgraded from a Kanger EVOD VV 1600mah to an ipv Mini (30 watt) with EFast 18650 3100mah : love the new unit.

My current tanks - not so much... Just don't seem to deliver great flavor / consistent flavor.
  • [4] Aerotank MOW Mega (19mm / 2.8ml) running either 1.5Ω or 1.8Ω dual coils.

All 4 are filled with different / varying favors to stave off vape fatigue.

  • ELiquids are 50PG/50VG @ 12mg NIC

Current tanks produce decent vapor - but the flavor seems muted / "muddy" - even with new coils after allowing to sit for 15 - 30 mins.
I'm not talking a burnt taste --- just weak, like drinking a soda through a filter is what I'm talking about.

From what I've read here / beyond is how great the new Subtanks with OCC heads are...
So is the flavor put out a huge improvement?

I'm not into RBA - but it seems rebuilding the stock OCC heads would be in my capability.

So my questions are (many):

  1. Will the Subtank provide better overall flavor than my MOWs?
  2. Subtank Mini or Nano - since RBA is not my goal?
  3. Rebuilding OCC heads:
    • What Kanthal would be reccomended?
    • Since in new to rebuilding and have arthritis, would a Kuro Koiler work for coils?
    • Is there a good guide for how many "wraps" would give 1.2Ω and what size (3mm)?

Thanks in advance.

Subtank has an amazing flavor. I would suggest the mini subtank so you can start with the OCC coils and then have the option to rebuild. When you put it on your ipv start at 15 watts and work your way up.
I agree with this. I have the MOW's and they're ok but the Subtank is in another league. Definitely think about lowering your nic level! I was using 12mg with the MOW. I'm at 4mg with the Subtank.

You'll probably want to vape lower than 12mg. You're going to get WAY more vapor than with the EMOW which means you're going to get way more nicotine in each draw. I recently got a Subtank Mini and prefer 3mg in this compared to 6 with my other tanks.

If you have absolutely no intention of using the RBA deck, you could get a Nano and save a little money, but honestly I would say just get the Mini to have bigger tank capacity. You might get curious later on and decide to use the RBA deck and fall in love with it. Never hurts to have the option.

Kanger is full of it when it comes to capacity though. If it really held 4.5 ml then filling it 3 times from a 15ml bottle would almost empty the bottle, not leave it with over 1/3 left. I think it's probably more around 3-3.5 ml of realistic capacity.

Well - I'm sold.

Ordered a pair of Mini's - found a great deal : $33.99 ea + 15% off + free shipping over $50 = $57.78.

Now I wait anxiously by the mailbox for vapemail. :Ø

I plan on rebuilding / rewicking the OCC heads - Rips video makes it look dead simple. Got a line on Shiseido cotton, shopping around for some 26g Kanthal.

Does anyone know the leg length on the OCC heads? I'm looking at http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp to figure out the build of the coil... And that's the only variable I'm unsure of.

And is it best practice to rewick when changing flavors or can one simply rinse / soak the head? I tend to rotate flavors every fill.

Learning a lot here - thank you all for sharing your knowledge with me.

As I start to finish my first tank on my new Subtank Mini - I have a newb question.

So I'm a waste not/want not kind of guy (hate to waste juice) and find myself wondering how low should I go?

When the liquid reaches the top of the cotton hole? Lower?
I know some juice gets wasted in every tank, just trying to minimize my waste.
