My first Kanger, an MT3, came with a head with a silver/stainless finish. This thing is a champ and won't die, I take care of it and it just keeps on trucking. I ordered 3 replacements heads from the same vendor at the same time and they have a dark, almost black finish and just don't perform as well. A month later I ordered a standard T3 from a different vendor and again received that darker/black finish. Again, it doesn't perform as well as that silver finish head.

First question: has anyone else noticed the same thing? Second question: is there any place I can specifically order those silver finished heads? Or maybe I'm just going to have to order another complete MT3 to get one (ow, don't twist my arm ;) )

The silver heads only come with the MT3s. They're slightly bigger around to fit the MT3 better. I haven't seen them for sale anywhere.

Okay, so I'm NOT crazy. My replacement heads also have that "smoke black" finish, different than my original heads.

In my case, it helps to tell them apart, as my originals are 2.4ohm, but the replacements are 2.2ohm. I have noticed the flavor is a bit weaker on the 2.2s, and I can't figure out why for the life of me. Maybe a rewick is in order
